Jeff is a great character guy and would fit in the flames dressing room. He lives in Calgary too. Hope he gets a chance in one of the preseason games and get another contract somewhere else!

Merely a spot filler while the team is away in China. Good luck to him, however Glass has no place on this team or the farm, whatsoever. Im sure if he wasnt a local guy, this wouldnt even be an option.

4 goalies needed for the split squad game. Parsons, McDonald, Schneider and Glass in Calgary, the other three to China. Makes sense to add this one

Yup. Three goalies needed to make the trip overseas. Gawd forbid one gets injured, you'll need a backup for the backup. Hard to do an emergency call-up when it's a 11 hour flight.

In the meantime, Glass fills a spot at home.

Spoiler!

Three on-ice groups for first chunk of camp:
-One group in China (3 goalies)
-Two groups here, each with two goalies.

I don't know who that is, so I tried a Google image search on the photo and even Google doesn't know who it is. It thinks it's some golfer. I assume it's not a golfer since he's wearing a Jets jersey.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not but it's Steve Mason and he sucks massive ass so no thank you to giving him a PTO.

No, I'm not joking. I have no idea what Steve Mason looks like (I didn't even know he was ever even a Jet).

I did a Google Image search and it suggested it was pro golfer Chris Wood (they do look alike).

Came down to either Glass or Lehtonen I suppose. Lehtonen probably has another PTO lined up elsewhere. Dont mind it. I do feel like Glass may be too low a bar to set for Rittich and Gillies to jump over though. Could be a good pairing on the farm for whoever loses the back up job too.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but when I hear the name Glass, all I think of is chuckwagon races.

For real? The Flames obliterated him and the pathetic Jets in Game 2 of the season last year. Brodie had a four point game. It was glorious—I am surprised you forgot.

Goaltender has to be the hardest position to turn a PTO into a contract. He has a whole body of work to compare against a small handful of periods in the pre season. Pretty easy to dismiss a goalie’s pre season results.

I view this signing as being half-full.

Barring trades, I don't see the Flames taking on another goaltender contract. There's no shortage of AHL goaltenders in the system.

Rittich is the odds-on favourites for the backup gig, with Gillies and Parsons being groomed as future starter. McDonald or Schneider can fill in Stockton is an injury happens.

Glass is local, so he's an easy invite. If he doesn't land a gig elsewhere this winter, the Flames could make him an emergency goalie.
