Not even Skinner can save the Oilers.

No one can.

No one.

And he knew that.

Not sure what Ottawa is doing here. If they went to arbitration, the reward probably would have been $7 million. What are they gaining? I could see it if it was more than a one-year deal.

I think that there's full fledged panic with both the Ottawa management team, and their fanbase.

I mean what's going to happen in the next 11 months is equivalent to me dropping a 50 megaton bomb on downtown calgary

Duchene, Stone, Karlsson and Wideman are all heading to UFA at the end of the year. There's blowing up a franchise, and rebuilding it, and blowing up a franchise and salting the earth and then killing all of the puppies.

With that, the next announcement will be Brady not signing and going back to College.

Probably hoping that by avoiding slagging him in arbitration it still keeps the door open on Stone signing an extension with the Sens after Jan 1.

Essentially paying an extra $350k as a good will gesture.

For a UFA Rental?

Doubt it.

I will be happy if we can trade for Mark Stone AND Brady Tkachuk by the deadline somehow.

BUT, we will then have 2 sets of brothers in the team, and we know how it turned out with the last set of brothers in town....

The Sens are gonna be busy at the trade deadline. At least TSN will have something to talk about

I don't even understand why the Senators felt the need to take a picture of the signing and tweet it.

Are Sens fans suppose to be happy that their best forward is now guaranteed to leave them?

Doesn't sound like that is exactly true although he could have said "before you suggest it, don't even think about sending me to deadmonton"....

Waddell said Skinner, and agent Don Meehan, never turned down a proposed deal but had given the Canes a “very limited” list of teams Skinner would consider.

C'mon, it's 2018 and the cap isn't 50m.

It's a poor contract for the Sens. One year and he's gone, even if they trade him he's upcoming UFA thus reducing his value at the deadline. Complete failure on behalf of Sens management.

Money wise, it's on the ball. He was on pace for 90 points and is awesome defensively as well as physical. Even if he falls back to 60p it's not a bad deal.

We are spoiled with the Johnny and Monahan contracts.

Send Michael to Ottawa now.

Kent Wilson just wrote an article skewering Stone. His contract is gross and he is outshone by Kulak in almost everyway. For a fraction of the price.

From the article:
Quote:
As you can see, Stone is lousy at almost everything. He doesn’t move the puck in transition, doesn’t contribute to shots in the offensive zone, and gives up the blueline with ease. Kulak isn’t a star either, but he seems like a much better transitional puck mover.
The Flames brass rightly identified Kulak as a bottom-rotation guy who currently isn’t worth a large commitment this offseason. Stone, on the other hand, is also a third pairing player and they drove a dump truck full of money up to his house last summer.

Kent Wilson logic ugh. You know what Stone isn’t lousy at? Stapling guys along the boards and clearing the front of he net. In Kent Wilson’s spreadsheet world apparently those aren’t positive things of value. His articles are terrible.

I love when Stone gets holding penalties for Pinning the player to the boards for 30 seconds. Then he's like "who me?" All innocent.

I'm going to disagree. In this case at least, I find Kent's analysis to be sound.

I agree with his take on Stone but then again, I have been on the trade Stone train for some time now.

If all those guys start the season with the sens, should be an exciting trade deadline
