Generally most people wait a year. Some also use the old school method of putting a drop of water on the new board, if it sits on top and doesn't soak in it is not ready to be stained yet.

Even though the new treated is brown there are still hints and tones of green evident on the boards. So maybe testing a little section where the two types meet with the stain you want to use will show how it will all look together.

The weed control goats showed up at McHugh Bluff last night (they are camped out on the green space just west of Centre street at Memorial drive). We went over with the kids yesterday evening and the lady running the show asked if we wanted to help. So we set up netting further west and then helped herd the goats when she let them out to start grazing. It was actually a lot of fun, she had another person on a horse to help herd and her border collie kept them in check too. I think they'll be out and about eating from 8am to ~10pm every day. Probably with some breaks thrown in, they have a pen set up in the park just west of Centre street at Memorial.
