I know really nothing of the player...but is he more deserving of the #7 spot than Tyler Wotherspoon? Whom would also have Huska vouching for him you'd think?

Or is it just because of physicality?

Only if the Flames don't sign anymore 7th defencemen before training camp!

Wotherspoon is a UFA and likely not wanting to remain in the organization.

He will battle with Hogstrom for the #7 role IMO.

It is a low risk signing. If/when he is sent down, his salary is low enough that it won't count against the salary cap, correct?

With losing Wotherspoon and Bartkowski, we need depth d-men.

I like it. Expect he will bounce between Stockton and Calgary and ultimately provides the sort of protection NHL GM's like to have on the roster.

Hopefully this is a sign of a forthcoming Stone trade with Andersson being ready. If so the Flames don’t get any worse but save $2.7 million. Great move if that’s the case.

I’m hearing this a bit lately that Andersson is ready, where is this coming from? Or is it just people predicting/speculating that he’s ready? I’m curious as I honestly have no idea how close he is to being ready?

Andersson dominated the AHL last season and looked very good in his 10 game stint with Calgary at the end of the season despite not recording a point.

He's ready.

Contracts up to $1.025 AAV can be fully buried in the 18-19 season. So yes, no cap hit if Prout is in Stockton.

If he goes easy at the smorgasbord table this summer and reports to camp in top shape, they'll find a spot for him.

There's a few other youngsters eager to take his place.

Wasn't Prout decent defensively? Not a puck mover, but decent defensively at the NHL level?

This is a surprising re-signing to me given that he wasn't called up at all last season.

Oh boy are we ever going to lose it when Andersson gets scratched to play this guy or sent to the AHL at the start of the season because he didn’t earn it while Prout plays opening night.

He's not really a prospect. Played 242 NHL games for Columbus and NJ over the last 7 years.

What he's best known for:
