I'm really liking living in Vancouver, and will probably live here after I'm done at UBC.

I just wish they would round up all the homeless people and ship them outta town. The downtown Eastside is disgusting, and a sore spot on a really beautiful city.
Nice comment.

I know the DTES has its fair share of problems but shipping all the homeless people out of town? Get a grip or a brain.

Yeah.... the logistics would probably be a nightmare - you're right!

Here's hoping we see that entire area bulldozed soon and a brand new line of swanky, over-priced Yaletownish condo's implemented. I just love me my $1300 studio apartments with a gorgeous view of my neighbors Crystal Meth lab from across the alley.

how come???
  • High cost of living
  • Lack of sunshine saps my will to live
  • Lack of any sort of affordable housing
  • high humidity makes me feel sticky all the time
  • Vancouver is the new Toronto in terms of attitude

The only time I would want to live in Vancouver would be when I retire. Beauitful city though, right on the coast.... absolutely breathtaking...

Im not gonna argue with the high cost of living or the attitude of SOME of the vancouverites, but the lack of sunshine comment just boggles my mind.....you make it sound like it rains here everyday of the year. It rains quite a bit here, but I dont see how you would take frigid temperatures over some water. As far as the stickiness is concerned, it gets like that maybe one month of the year and it is bearable.

But hey, I like Vancouver, you dont, difference of opinion is all..

I never said it rains every day. However, there are a shinguardload of grey and cloudy days. In the wintertime we get fewer hours of daylight as it is and when it's cloudy with very few fully sunny days for weeks on end it wears on my spirit. It's not really that mind boggling. Humans are affected by the amount of sunshine they are exposed to. Perhaps you are British by descent and have been adapted to dreary weather.

Frigid? I wouldn't really call Calgary's weather frigid. But I guess I can hack the cold weather.

Maybe for you it's like that for one month of the year. I'm always hot. Combine that with the constant humidity of the west coast and you get sticky.
