That thought occurred to me as well, but it's hard to tell if it's this reporter saying it's unclear what the gender is from what police have told him, vs. the police inspecting the remains and saying that it's unclear from their inspection what the gender is. I think the former is more likely, but the tweet could be taken either way.

Have they confirmed it’s the body of an adult? Just wondering if someone somehow hid an unwanted baby. (Sorry. It’s a horrible thought.)
