I think a 50/50 split between Smith and Gillies/Ritich is a better way to go next year. Smith gets injured each season but we can reduce that by playing him a sensible amount and not over playing him.

Raanta is very good. Stepped up his game even more after they brought in Kuemper, his possible replacement. Great signing for the Coyotes.

The first part of the season the Flames were getting shelled most nights and Smith kept them in it. Really hard to use a 50-50 rotation under those circumstances. They have to avoid a slow start for the third year in a row.

Agree with you although in the Smith thread a few are arguing that Raanta's strong second half doesn't count because the Coyotes were out of it.

I think he's good. He has posted great results for every team he has played with.

One only need to look at Kipper's numbers while he as in SJ.

Fair point, what I meant was that we cannot play Smith so much otherwise he breaks down, they need to manage his workload better.

Raanta and Kuemper duo could actually start to turn that team around... if they can figure out how to score regularly too.

Not saying they're a playoff team any time soon but they've been in one hell of a slump for a while and have been making good moves lately to start going in the right direction.

Will be interesting to see if they keep their better players this summer or do some flips for more re-tooling.
