If the suspect was inside that garage this presumably will wrap up pretty quickly here in some form, as that garage has to be a total loss by now. I can see the smoke from here.

What an effort that was by CPS to mobilize and block off 16 Ave for the ambulance, too. Whatever they weren't able to block people seemed to understand and stayed put or got out of the way. First time I've ever been genuinely happy with Calgary drivers.

Why would they take him to Foothills and not the one by Sunridge (which name escapes me, you can tell I've been gone for awhile)?

Foothills is literally directly down 16th Ave from where this is happening, and has a vastly better ICU than Peter Loughheed (which I'm assuming is the one you're talking about).

Foothills has a major trauma unit or whatever they call it; anything serious goes there.

Foothills has the trauma centre, Peter Lougheed doesn't.

Better intensive care at Foothills. Serious victims like this would end up getting transferred if they went to lougheed first

The farther out you get from an incident, the more accurate information becomes. I'd generally trust the later tweet over the earlier.
Good news in this case.

So do they just let the thing burn? I can't imagine they send in firefighters to get shot.

Someone on reddit just posted about someone shouting from the garage.
But it’s reddit, so take it with a huge grain of salt

From the CPS Facebook page:
"Active police incident in Abbeydale - Update 2 (1330 hours)
We can confirm we have found a person deceased at the incident location. We are lifting the shelter in place and there is believed no further threat to public safety.
Further updates will be released as they become available.
We can confirm that a member of CPS has been shot and taken to hospital. The officers condition is listed as stable."

Wonder what happened. The fire, or maybe suicide?
