what I would like to see:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Versteeg - Backlund - Frolik
Tkachuk - Jankowski - Stewart
Ferland - Shore - Lazar/Hathaway

(also wouldn't mind reversing Tkachuk and Bennett, or Ferland with Versteeg)

It's his "bottom six", referring to the 6 digits that foot has.

They are going to play Brouwer. Probably 4th line RW. Hathaway is out and the only question is Shore/Stajan/Lazar IMO.

One thing - Stewart was described as being horrible defensively. Is it smart to play him with Jankowski, who, while he will be good defensively one day, isn't right now?

It's tough - especially if this team gets healthy.

I feel like this portion of the line up is locked.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland - Jankowski - ?
? - ? -?

So 4 open spots and we have Stajan (LH), Shore (RH), Hathaway (RH), Brouwer (RH), Stewart (RH), Lazar (RH) , Versteeg (RH)

I feel like at 100% healthy it's something like

Ferland - Jankowski - Versteeg
Stajan - Shore - Brouwer/Lazar/Hathaway/Stewart (potentially in that order)

But you better show up every game as a RW on this team now because it's going to be a battle to stay in the lineup each night and if you don't work hard you're going to find yourself in the press box.

And this is the reason why these acquisitions were so good for the team.

'You want to play again tomorrow night? You better play hard tonight'

It's not that Stewart is some kind of great player, it's that we will have motivated guys in the bottom 6 every night.

Plus, more toughness than before.

Well said. Brilliant BT move the more one thinks about it. The competition will be fierce for those bottom 4 spots each and every night.

Was wondering what the Flames were going to do with all that extra cap space. Can get a 1RW for a reasonable price so lets make the bottom 6 better.

Also repletes Stockton for their run with our emerging almost ready prospects.

Top 6 stays the same as all season

Then Bennett-Jankowski-Versteeg once healthy/Best of Stewart/Hathaway for now
Stajan-Shore-Lazar
Hathaway/Stewart and Brouwer eat popcorn

After thinking about it some more, I like the following:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett (rotating with Ferland, depending on what is working)
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland - Jankowski - Stewart
Versteeg - Shore - Brouwer

with Stajan, Lazar, and Hathaway as depth to rotate in.

For now, Lazar in Versteeg's spot

Versteeg gets off IR:

Ferland - Jankowski - Stewart
Versteeg - Stajan/Shore - Brouwer
Versteeg - Shore - Brouwer is a good 4th line, given the improvement in Brouwers play of late.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett
Tkachuk-Backlund-Stewart
Frolik-Jankowski-Ferland
Versteeg-Shore-Lazar
Brouwer/Stajan

I would like to see something like this when healthy. I have a feeling that stewart will come out hot- I think he would fit better than Brouwer did on that line and Backlund can cover some of his deficiencies to maximize his impact. Meanwhile Frolik and Ferland add a lot of punch to that 3rd line for Jankowski to feed off of, and steady shore can centre the rejuvenated spark plug curtis lazar with a pinch of offense from Versteeg.
Brouwer/ Stajan to plug holes when necessary.

Until the injuries work themselves out:

Frolik-Jankowski-Lazar
Brouwer-Shore-Hathaway
Stajan

I think we should move Frolik down to the bottom 6. He is good enough to prop up a 3rd line a bit, but not really good enough to be a legit top 6 threat.

I think posters are dreaming if they think Stewart and SHore will be regulars if the flames get healthy. Shore is going to come in once in a while to give Stajan some rest. You think GG is going to pick SHore over Stajan? Stewart will be 13th forward. He might have a chance to take away 4th line RW durring the injuries.

There's a lot of guys.

What are the chances they sit Stajan and Brouwer if they get outplayed?
