Hate to burst your bubble but it is happening. Though there are some other pieces in the mix that will make it easier to swallow. Trust Brad. That is all I can say.

Why would anyone want Lehner? Gillies and Rittich have proven they can hold the fort til Smith returns

These things seem to develop fast for Calgary once news is leaked.
Great, now I can't do anything else today. Have to sit here and refresh

Kane is a left winger, no?? Left wing is a position of strength on the Flames. Think Brad would be targeting a right winger,

Didn't you also say Flames were about to get Nilson from the Canucks?

As to Lehner: DO NOT WANT! I think a combination of Rittich and Gillies is already an upgrade on him. At least our guys battle through the tough stretches and find a way to be competitive. I've seen Lehner give up far too often to think he could ever be a starter. I definitely don't want him to bridge the gap until Smith is back.
The only reason to get Lehner is if Smith is done for the year or longer. God, I hope that's not the case.
As for Kane: I'M TORN.
I like his abilities on the ice. He can score, skate, and mix it up physically. The Flames would also be getting him for more than just this season as per Conroy's comments, which has me worried. I know that people can mature to a certain extent, but I'm also a believer that some leopards just don't change their spots no matter how much time has passed.(See Burrows, Alex). I worry that the carefully cultivated culture of the Flames could be disrupted by a Kane. I don't think it's worth it just for a little extra offense.

RoR would be solid but then the Flames have nearly $20M in their top 3 centre’s going forward. It can be done I suppose but that is a lot of money.
If it is RoR then I assume childhood Sabres fan Jankowski is part of the deal.
I also have interest in Reinhart he would be a sneaky good pickup and if he cost a guy like Fox it is easier to digest considering his age.
I am open to Kane if an extension is done (and reasonable) and he only ends up costing a prospect like Fox with no additional parts from Calgary

Problem is, what if he doesn’t?
Also, does it really make sense to acquire Kane, then re-sign him if we have Tkachuk, Ferland, Sam Bennett and Mark Jankowski all needing raises? Also, Brouwer’s contract isn’t done for another 2+ years. The cap projection just wouldn’t make sense for us.

I'm undecided on Kane. The skill is obviously there but his issues are well documented.
Reinhart is my dream target from the Sabres. He's been playing RW lately. Fills a need perfectly

Saying it is looking for certain that Kane will be in a Flames sweater and Bennett has been the main piece. You never know with Brad though if he can swing something to retain Bennett, but Sabres are really keen on him. This has been an ongoing negotiation for some time.

If Bennett does get moved, were they just showcasing him?

What? You’re already flip flopping. You said Bennett would be switching sweaters “book it”.

When has a 40-50pt winger on an epic cold spell, with a checkered past returned a piece like Bennett who while not without his own issues is a 21 year old former top pick?
I could see Bennett for a non rental but this is a rental.

Didn't Treliving say they're not interested in rentals? Misdirection maybe? Or either an extension has already been talked about or it's not Kane

If Sabres retain 50% of O'Reilly that's a bargain at $3.75M.
