Matheson is going to be a helluva defenseman in time. He has that offensive flair and his defensive game is starting to come around as a legit top 4 d-man.
Flames better be ready to play tonight. Panthers are hot.

Monahan gets turned around and Gio has a rare weak play.

Can’t let a guy skate untouched through the middle like that.
First shot against and down 1-0 after a couple of good shifts to start. This is the Flames at home for whatever reason.

With that said, we play better down a goal so I’m not worried.

When's the last time the Flames scored first? Seems like the Flames keep giving up the first goal.

For some reason really early goals don’t bother me as much. Maybe because there’s no way they can be said to be indicative of the play (because there hasn’t been much). Or maybe because there’s so much time to change things.

What is it about home ice bringing out the worst in the goaltenders?

Panthers will give the Flames chances to score. They're terrible at limiting home plate opportunities, and they will turn the puck over often in the defensive and neutral zones leading to quick transition offense for the opposition. There are already quite a few examples of this happening in the game so far.
