I'll never forget when Iggy said it. I respected him for his honesty when this happened but I also knew this was the beginning of the end.

As for the game tonight, flames better look at the gm statement as a reason for the rangers to come out flying, we don't know how the team will react to it but you need to assume they're pissed and don't take them lightly.

Gulutzan suggesting that besides Lazar drawing back in there will be one other line up change.

Only Hrivik or Bartkowski remain to be put into the lineup. Place your bets.

Tough game mentally. Back to back, against a team that has said the rebuild has started, but hasn't made any official moves yet.

How do the Rangers respond tonight? Will the 'rebuild' announcement make them go belly-up? One would think so, but it can also galvanize them a bit since they haven't made moves yet, or make them play looser.

Will be interesting to see how they come out. Unpredictable at this point, but leaning towards them sucking out of the gate.

Flames just need to come at these (probably) demoralized zombies hard off the bat and put them away.

I think the Rangers did the announcement because the market is heating up and if the captain potentially is traded in the next week, as is a guy like Nash and some other fan favourites, they want to get ahead of it for the backlash or plan. I don’t think the players would take this as any personal affront, or is it news to them, as the top guys have been asked in the past week or so to waive their NTCs.

Nash doesn’t want to go, and the attraction of NYC certainly is a factor like few others in the league once you’re ther and immersed in it for years.

But yeah, never totally trust Sather in anything he says or does. Never forget his comment when running the lean late 90s Oilers about how if he had the resources that teams like the Rangers did at the time, how many cups he would win as a GM. Well, that answer is none in 15 years as a GM there, and the only appearance in the Cup was under a salary cap.

Probably Hrivik in, as it is his old team. At least that would be my guess.

Can anyone watch a Versteeg clip now without hearing the "littttle brother Dougie" voice in their head?

Imagine a salute line of Versteeg - McGrattan - Jagr!

Even if the Rangers didn't publicly announced they're not expecting to make the playoffs yesterday, it would still be a tough game to pull a W. The NHL has been successful in creating parity in the league. On any given night, any team can beat any other team. There are no gimmie wins anymore.

Last night, Coyotes beat the Wild. A basement team beating a team in a playoff spot currently. You gotta earn each and every win; there is no cake walk. It's why the playoff race is such a dogfight - majority are on the same level.

He's had some chemistry with Bennett too. I think that Bennett - Janko - Versteeg might be able to get something done.

It sounds like some of the NYR vets want to stay... so, do they play well enough so they're valuable in a rebuild? Or do they play poorly enough so they have no trade value
