Backlund has a couple misconducts this season along with 16 PIMS he received against the Wings alone. Outside of that, I would say most of his calls are just over aggressive defending against the opposition’s best players.

Unlike with Sam Bennett and Dougie Hamilton, they lead the team with obstruction minors. Penalties like tripping, slashing and hooking drive me crazy and I hope these guys can tone it down going forward.

How dumb was Bennett's penalty tonight? I didn't really see it....Just daw him getting out of the box after the Rangers scored what would prove to be the game winner.

Actually wouldn’t be surprised to see Backlund win the Byng. Outlier for sure

Soooo... CP member posts surprising stat that Sam Bennett is NOT the team leader in PIM’s this year. The very next day, Bennett takes a dumb penalty in the third period that leads to the GWG against an inferior team.

Not saying it’s the OP’s fault but...

We may have dropped from leading the league in penalty minutes last year down to 4th but we are still one of the most penalized teams. To the eye test, I'd say we have earned more of our penalty minutes this year as the Wideman effect seems to have decreased.

I'd rather we keep up our "soft" level of play rather than getting more penalty minutes and spending more time short handed.
