No one messed with the 'Hawks, but the pWo messed with them.
Spoiler!

I heard the Blackhawks cry
I heard them groan the night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed
Go Flams

My new outlook for flames games is hoping for win, not expecting one. Not a shot at the team, it's just that teams are just so close, and the flames are not distanced enough from the pack.
Hope they are more opportunistic in cashing in on the chances they have been able to generate 5on5. Hope the PP can start to figure things out.
Aside from the team, i'm really wanting to see more from Sam Bennett. A guy hungry for pucks that is winning battles, a guy who's going to the net, and getting the puck there, and a guy who can be a physical guy that doesn't back down. I'm very happy to see that from him, i'm extremely disappointed in the gaps where this all seems to disappear from his game.
Would love to see him have a really strong finish here to the season.

A couple of things, IMO, all speed no hands, an unwillingness to go to the "greasy" areas, and the fact that Toews, his most consistent linemate has slumped too...missing the right RW on that line has killed both Toews and Saad.

Currently downloading a playlist for a road trip, thanks for the addition! They have been great on the road this year, makes me have good thoughts about the next weeks results!

Looking back at it now would have you liked to hang on to Panarin and try to shed salary another way ? Artemi hasn't looked nearly as dynamic in CBJ as he did opposite of Kane and honestly I miss that combo for you guys. Those two guys together were probably the most exciting duo in the league the last two year ~ 346 points between the two of them over those two seasons.. Just insanely fun hockey to watch.

@Heavy...Kane/Panarin had a special symbiosis, and just clicked. But, I don't think, that in the long term, the team was going to be able to pay the guy. I am certain the thinking was that Kane can play with anyone, but, Toews needed to be "fixed" and Panarin/Toews was not going to be the answer. So Stan reached back into time to get Saad to play with Toews. The problem with this thinking was at RW...when Saad/Toews were especially effective, KANE was the playmaker at RW. Q wanted to spread the offense over at least 2 lines, so Kane/Toews was NOT desirable, in his mind, apparently. Toews just isn't a creative enough center except in transition, and Saad's strengths also are in transition. They are easy enough to bottle up by clogging the neutral zone, and are far less effective in in-zone offense than Kane with anyone. Kane/Schmaltz/insert random winger have proven that.
Panarin probably needs a free-wheeling linemate to play off of, but, I watch little of the Eastern Conference to know what he has in Columbus to play with. And, I doubt that Torts is the best possible HC for an improvisor like Panarin.

After hearing the teams brutal travel day yesterday/today i dont expect much of anything from them tonight.
Sounds like a nightmare day.
On the plane yesterday at noon...got into their hotel 11PM last night, luggage a couple hours later. Even worse for the equipment staff. Didnt get to the United center with everything til 1:30AM this morning and were there til 3:45AM, this morning to the hotel for a bit and back to the arena at 7:30.
Guys are such creatures of habit and this kind of thing usually messes up the whole squad.

Gotta do it like Gully tho:
"Really liked what he saw, thought they didn't come out as fast as he would have liked but they had some jump. Lost a step after the first 10mins and just couldn't gain ground after that"
Man I have bad memories of that 5-0 collapse..
I watched the first period and a bit of that game, once we were up 5-0, I was like sweet, ok time to pause it and go play floor hockey and enjoy the rest of the game after that.
Then I come back home to a message on the answering machine from my step dad who NEVER watches hockey saying hey I saw the flames were playing, what a game, it's 5-5!
