I think the team will actually come out flying for this one. I also hope to see Hrvik and Lomberg play.

Everyone said Fla was the trap game aft the big win in TB. If the Flames play their game and Smith is good, they'll do fine.
As for Backlund saying they'd been outshot, that's just a fact and an indication they aren't resting on their laurels.

I'd be interested to see the record of the flames when being outshot and when outshootjng the opponent. I think Smith plays better with more action in the game. Rittich just wins either way.
Also when the flames play a little looser they may give up more shots but also generate way better chances it seems.

I am also curious who starts today: Smith or Rittich?

It will definitely be Smith. He won his last game, is fabulous on the road, and will not play again for at least five days.

Way too easy to not be mental prepared for this game.

Carolina has their bye week as well after this game. They could easily overlook this game just as much.

It seems to me that the League has attempted to adjust the schedule of teams entering and coming out of the bye in order to make these games more evenly competitive. Last night Minnesota and Winnipeg both played their last games before the break against one another. The same is with the Flames and Hurricanes, and the Flames and the Jets both have their first games back against each other.
Last season I remember seeing that teams coming off the bye almost universally lost their first games back. Has there been a change made in the schedule to address this?

Here is my first prediction of the year: 5-2 for the Flames. I think the 1st line are going to continue with their current hot streak.

Ryan Pinder @SNRyanPinder
Sounds like Marek Hrivik will make his Flames debut this afternoon, while Ryan Lomberg's NHL debut will have to wait.

While the Flames are playing, I'll be driving on I-5 thru Seattle heading back home after a wedding.
So 5-I Flames is my prediction.
Got the game on the PVR when I get home. Hope to come online in about 10 hours and see a PGT talking about a W.

yes last year the bye weeks were spread out over a couple of months. This season the every team has their bye week within a two week period.

Must be an injury to a centre. GG hates to change a winning lineup, I mean he didn't put Hrivik in for a back to back. Lomberg call up must be in case another forward gets injured or sick before the game.

The only guy who I saw get hurt was Brouwer (on the knee on knee). But he finished the game without any signs he was injured.

Definitely Smith today. Has any Flames backup started in a non back to back situation this year?

Afternoon game on the last day of a road trip is usually a recipe for disaster with any team. Let's hope the Flames can buck the trend today.
I'm hoping for a win of course, but I'll be satisfied with a point.

Wow!
Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
Sean Monahan is out for #Flames. Sam Bennett will fill-in for him on the top line with Johnny Gaudreau and Micheal Ferland. #CGYvsCAR

What? I assume injury. Still a few weeks from Super Bowl.
I really hope this is minor.
