I have visited Winnipeg for two days last January. It was very cold even for me as Russian. I also seemed to pick a flu from a homeless man on a bus stop. Winnipeg is surely worse than Vancouver and Toronto and to me it was worse than Saskatoon. Downtown is alright, but the rest of the city is comprised of those numberless three-story houses with small windows or mediocre detached houses. That being said, while a far cry from Vancouver, it's still an OK city. I would move there if I could.

Winnipeg- one great city
Winnipeg is nobody's first choice, but it is not like any Canadian city these days is preferred by the modern day NHL player. Calgary is great, but it isn't New York.

Hopefully that little glimmer of pride is enough to make people in Winnipeg forget they live in Winnipeg and not the beautiful Bay Area.

Yeah, I'm not gonna throw stones at the NHL city rated 31st by millionaire professional athletes when I live in the 27th.

Although I get the idea, Winnipeg isn't a great place to play when you consider all the other cities in the league, I think its bush league that another team goes out of there way to create a video and post it on social media to trash another city. If asked in a random interview, ok, but that looked staged.

Whether or not it is the destination of wealthy NHLers I am sure we can all agree that Winnipeg is a dump, and there are many, MANY more desirable places to live or visit in Canada.

All kidding aside, I think the NHL is very pleased to have the Jets owners in the fold. And if I was an NHL owner i would be pushing Bettman to levy a significant fine on these players based on whatever rule my lawyers could fine to justify it - and ensure the fine was high enough to deter this sort of behaviour from others.

Maybe they are right, and maybe they are wrong. I do think they way they commented on it is rather classless.
It is one thing for fans of rival teams to degrade cities like that, but to have NHL players in the media doing that I think is a bit crass. It makes me wish that some of these players end up being traded to Winnipeg down the road.
