Cali can speak to this but comping the lower bowl proved to be a big problem in selling tickets for the Panthers. Not a move Carolina should emulate.

They've been agressively discounting lower bowl seats this year anyway. They've had sales where they sold all lower bowl tickets for $40. Have a discount to get all 9 February games for $97 including guaranteed lower bowls for at least 2 of those games.

They've been making it up to the season ticket holders by handing out free vouchers for additional tickets to other games. Season ticket holders seem more or less ok with it from what I've heard. A full building makes for a better experience.
