Yep. This team will come out like it always has. The determining factor will be how fast and aggressive the Flyers start. If the Flyers play an urgent game the Flames will be back on their heels and in their own zone in no time, waiting for the Flyers to make a mistake that may not come soon enough.

You'll probably be battling with Versteeg yelling "F@&# YOU, ELLIOTT!" from the press box.

I think we see a determined Flames team. We win this one 5-2, I can't see Elliott being any good. Benny continues to score goals and that 3rd line starts producing regularly. 1 goal for Benny, 1 goal for Janko, 1 goal for Jags, 2 for Monahan.

I want to see a run starting now into the new year, lets make it 10 in a row again!

GFG.

This is a defining game for the group. Do we see another mentally fragile team that GG can't control the nervous energy or do we see a hungry team that is ready from the puck drop.

Big statement game for the team today. If they come out looking like dog crap as has been the case lately, it's a pretty damning indictment that something is up with this group and changes will be necessary.

All too often this looks like a team that's afraid to lose, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see more of the same tonight.

vs toronto - better coached team, now with the last change... playing in a hockey hot bed.... might make them nervous.
vs mtl (b2b) - mtl is on a roll. that building is a special one, seems like it will make our nervous nellies... nervous
vs nucks - rivalry game. we've showed up nervous to both games vs the nucks this year, expect much of the same.

This nervous team makes me nervous.

After watching them getting worked by the hated leafs, then get worked by the hated oilers, i frankly don't even care what they do tonight considering the games on deck for the week.

I don't even care what this team does at this stage. Go Gaudreau/Bennett Go, go get some points and pad your stats.
Jesus. You'd think the Flames were 31st in the league with talk like this.

WTF is going on CP? Is our season over all of a sudden?

Yes, i'm pretty pissed with the results of the leafs/oilers game.

as per the coach, lot's of nervous energy.... as a fan, i am inheriting the same from the team.

Flames lose this all panic can set in just in time to head out east against a Leafs team we can never beat in Toronto and a Montreal team feeling great about themselves.

So? Get over it?

The Leafs games could have been better, but that's a good team they faced and just plain lost a game.

The Edmonton game has no excuses, but all teams have stinkers. Too many from the Flames this year, no doubt, but it doesn't mean much over an 82 game season.

Ask yourself this: If those losses had been to the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres (two teams that are about the same point in the standings, but without any known rivalry with the Flames) would you still be angry? Maybe...but would you still be THIS angry?

We all want to see a better effort tonight, but it's time to move on from games that already happened.

When your team has lost every playoff game, and every BoA game for the past year+, it rings somewhat hollow to say 'hey, we beat ARI, let's go get Philly!'

Being at the Dome for the TOR and EDM games this week was beyond cringeworthy - it was downright embarrassing. So I think it's probably understandable that some fans are a bit jaded right now.

That's precisely the point, Cali... some games are more important, and when you get embarrassed in those games, there is going to be more emotion generated.

But emotional responses are often poorly thought out ones.

umm, don't tell me how to feel ?

I love the flames, inherently it makes me hate the oilers, canucks, leafs, etc.

So far, the flames have been an embarrassment in almost all 5 games against these teams, not to mention looking about as average as they can be in the remaining 21 games of the season.

I get it, i'll stop being so negative.... For now, that means i will need to stop posting on CP, as unfortunately i have a lot of very negative feelings lingering, that have hit a precipice after Saturday.

That's just it for me. There's no perspective with some posters now because of who those losses were to.

you make it sound as though this team has been steady and doing well generally, aside from these games.

I suppose we will have to agree to disagree with that sentiment.

I think the point I was making is that this season is still going well overall despite some inconsistent play. It wasn't about being negative, because everyone is right now, including me. But you were talking like the season was over and nothing mattered anymore. Seems a bit extreme to me.

i suppose that's where we really differ in opinion. Having watched all the flames games this season (aside from 6-0 loss to ottawa) i do not think things have gone overall well.
