Flames looked like butter to me, and not in a tasty grandmas biscuit way. Sloppy with the puck, soft in general on the forechecking, greasy sticks in all the wrong ways.

thought they started pretty good.
bad turnover (hamonic/bennet) -> goal against
gio gets outmuscled on the PK, which had trouble making clean clears all night -> goal against.
andersson big stop on tkachuk
and then the wheels just fell off in the second. turnover after turnover, getting bottled in.
Glad to see they showed some life in the 3rd at least.
we can blame this on the "1st game back after long road trip excuse" but this team has played, what 1 or 2 solid end to end good games this season. Really disappointed.
flames better win these next 2, the saturday game at the very least, or i'm going to be very sad.

Dutchy really giving it to Bennett on that Hamonic own goal on TSN. Said Bennett pooched the clearing attempt.

Big whiff giving up a first and two seconds for Hamonic. Could've got another top 6 ready player with that. 13-10-1 is a very kind record, without Johnny's blistering start and Smith saving this team we are sitting in the dumpster.
GG was out coached tonight by another very experienced coach. Every time the camera panned to Babcock he was barking orders, when the camera is panned to GG he's doing nothing. The team is emulating their coach right now, soft and no intensity. Guy needs to go or the same exact thing that happened last season is going to happen again. G'nite

Flames looked tired and they were out-skated for the loose pucks and out-competed in all 3 zones tonight. Nothing more you can say about it.

Awful game. Flames never looked the same after that crazy Leafs PP with Smith standing on his head. Their energy just seemed to disappear from that point on, while the Leafs took the momentum and ran with it.
Leafs also scored two flukey goals, so the bounces clearly went their way. But the Flames certainly didn't do themselves any favors with the constant turnovers, sloppy play, and lack of a forecheck. They'd better be ready on Thursday.

Not enough north/south in our game. We'd dump the puck in and give the Leafs all the time in the world to get the puck out. Add to that too many passes when a shot on goal was there.

There were some complaints in the game thread about Gulutzan's decision to challenge the empty net goal with less than a second (when your team is already losing by two goals.) Personally, I liked it. He should challenge every goal against (if there is a reasonable chance of success). He has a duty to do so. I wish every player on the team had that same attitude. It's about pride and duty.

Not for everyone. I would rather have had the Flames win tonight over a stamps victory.
That being said, I will always love Gio and his complete level. He never gives up and is always going 110 percent. When he has the puck you can see how hard he is working to make something happen. From his skating to board battles it's just a treat to watch. If only his partner and a few others did the same all the time.

Yeah Babcock is better than Gulutzan, not a big deal in itself. Babcock is better than most NHL coaches. There's a reason they pay him the big bucks.
I didn't think the game was that bad. Toronto is a really good team.

Leafs played pretty well. That first goal was a killer, 5 feet wide, off of Hamonic's knee and in. I mean, what do you even say.
Too many giveaways tonight. A lot of easy outs but the Flames weren't hard enough on the puck and made it too easy for the Leafs to keep the pressure on.
Bad game, but showed some more grit in the 3rd which is a good sign for Thursday's game.

So if Dallas holds onto their lead against Vegas, we are out of a playoff spot?
Do I have that right? So much for being solidly in a playoff spot.

Really bad effort from many players. The Leafs were completely prepared for everything the Flames were going to try. Babcock was playing chess while GG was playing checkers.
Flames have peaked under GG and we need to move on. Same entries, same exits, dumb in game decisions, zero accountability.

Save our season. Fire the coaching staff now. Hire Sutter or Bylsma.

i thought that review wasn't by the flames, but the league? hence, no penalty on the play.

I'd really like to see the Flames add this to their breakout repetoire, the old rim around the boards is starting to make me get Brent Sutter flashbacks. I'm seeing it available, the Flames just don't use it.
Unique Team Traits: The Red Wings use a dangerous part of the ice to avoid getting hemmed in
