What a bust. Funny thing is Gormley has also been a huge bust.
For those wondering why I bring up Gormley? When the Flames made the Jokinen trade the first round pick was the Flames choice of 2009 or 2010. Flames kept their 2009 pick and I believe they even traded back and picked up Erixon 23rd overall. Due to the nightmare season in 2010 the Flames missed the playoffs and gifted the Yotes the 13th pick which ended up being Gormley who I recall was ranked even higher than 13 so that really stung at the time.
Both picks busted and the Flames had some assets out of Erixon but Shinkaruk and Wotherspoon are also near bust as well
This story should be used every time someone criticizes the Flames for trading away picks. I'm not an advocate for trading picks away, but picks in general are way overvalued when brought up in trade discussions.
What do the Bruins have to show for Hamilton?
- Zachary Senyshyn
- Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson
- Jeremy Lauzon
The 3 have combined to play a total of 1 NHL game since the trade, and don't factor into the Bruins Opening Day lineup for this season.
In hindsight, people tend to look in the general area and pick the best player to be drafted from that range in order to do trade analysis but that is a very poor way to look at things.
It's funny, everytime I see a thread about Erixon I assume it's an old one someone bumped. Then I open it and see it's a new post about a new demotion/cut, and I smile
No he totally deserves this. The karma is so sexy I'd like to put on some Barrie and make love to it.
