The Canadian teams generate revenues in Canadian dollars., so a stronger CAD means more league revenue in USD. A 10% hike in the CAD = about a 3% bump in HRR (assuming it's sustained for the year)

Edit: or did you mean no impact for this season? That is true, but overages would affect next year.
it might be wise for a team to hire a FX firm full-time to manage their FX rates. Hedging them correctly and locking them in could save/make them a boatload of money. I think the $CAD will keep rising as the Bank of Canada has stated that they will continue to raise the interest rate over the next 12 months. We could be back to seeing 0.85 - 0.90 $CAD/$USD.

Flames likely have $3.5M to play with and they would ideally want to save around a million for the trade deadline if things go as we all hope they do. Jagr at $2-2.5 and I'm giddy!

Still hoping for Iggy to sign a 1 year $1.5 million deal. Come home Iggy!

How do you propose to subtract Stajan?

I've heard Gulutzan say he prefers having a 22 man roster so he doesn't have 2 extra forwards who don't get much playing time. If we sign Jagr, don't make a trade and assume Jankowski makes the team then one would also assume F. Hamilton would need to be sent to the farm and one of Brouwer, Lazar or Stajan would sit to fit this 22 man mold.

Trade him to a team that needs veteran centre depth. Pittsburgh comes immediately to mind.

Pittsburgh isn't taking Stajan unless we retain salary which pretty much negates the concept of "subtracting" his salary.

While we're at it let's just subtract Brouwer. We should have subtracted Wideman last year.

There's a 20 man roster now on Hockey's Cap that includes Brouwer, Lazar, and Stajan at F and Bartkowski on D. Add Jagr (hypothetically) and one of Kulak and Wotherspoon and I think your 22 man group is set. No Jagr means room for Jankowski possibly. My expectation all offseason has been that Jankowski will not make the opening night roster but will be on the roster by the end of the season.
