He was 11th in norris voting this year. One spot ahead of dougie who was 12th. I wouldn't trade him for Hamilton any day of the week but the votes are what they are. His salary is the lowest out of any of the other players in the same voting class as him.
Hamilton was 9th and Schultz was 10th

With Letang out Shultz came up big for them in the playoffs and is only 26. He still has room to grow after being misdeveloped in Edmonton. Might be a touch overpaid but he's just entering his prime now.
That trade to Pittsburgh was like winning the lottery for Shultz. 2 cups and now over 16 million guaranteed, when it looked at the time like he was on his way out of the league. One of the more dramatic turnarounds I can remember for a player.

I love the way people, myself included, hated him when he was on the Oilers and held him up as an example of classless college players spurning their draft team to go UFA, and now we're all loving and congratulating him. Anything to dis the Oil!
