A man can dream though. A man can dream.

I'd hope so. Adam Foote was a below-average skater when he played, nevermind now.

Kristian Vesalainen sounds intriguing for the Flames. Adding a power-forward to the prospect pool sounds like a good choice.

This is the first year in probably four or five that I haven't done any research prior to the draft. I'm sure it'll work out or it won't.

Who's the Jankowski? I wouldn't mind them going off the board. We'll need a new prospect to talk about for the next five years.

Last year, the first pick was made at 5:18.

I'm gonna get killed for saying this (and I'm sure you're just joking sureLoss) but I would be thrilled if we got Oettinger. It might make more sense to trade down and take him, but I think this kid will be a star-2.11GAA, .927 SV% in the NCAA in his draft year. I know we have 2 great young goalies in the system already, but it would be a catastrophe for him to end up with the Coilers.(not that that's the reason you draft anyone)

Here's a scouting report on him care of Future Considerations.

https://futureconsiderations.ca/player/Callan-Foote/

"Another kid with NHL bloodlines as Adam Foote’s son plays a rough-and-tumble, minute-munching game with a bit of offensive upside…he is huge and incredibly mobile for his size…can look a tad sluggish when quickly forced to elevate his tempo, but overall, he is very smooth on the ice… he has an incredibly long stick that he uses to consistently disrupt plays in every defensive scenario…an incredibly tough defenseman to beat in the defensive zone who is only going to get better…is also very capable with the puck as he cradles it smoothly in transition and hits on his passes…has some dangling ability, utilizing his reach and smooth mobility…has a quick, accurate slap shot…has poise with the puck, not making bad decisions when pressured…plays a physical game due to his natural size and strength, but could be a little more abrasive…big, elegant skater who distributes the puck at a high level and can play in all situations…impressive NHL upside."

Sounds pretty appealing. I swear I read or heard something yesterday about him being quite nasty and irritating behind the play. Perhaps it was in Mackenzie's draft rankings show or TSN's mock draft show. If anybody wants to watch those as primers here they are.

Anyone think that Vegas being directly in front of us(twice even) means anything? Are they going to go for BPA, do they want NHL ready prospects rather than projects?

I would think they would definitely go BPA. They don't have specific holes in their prospect lineup since they haven't drafted anyone yet. They need everything.

I mean if I were them I would prioritize centres and dmen over wingers since I believe centres and dmen are more valuable. But they may not share that philosophy.

Heard something the other day about them spending a ton on their scouting department.

I'm getting excited, there's no hype at the top of the draft and I don't hate any of the teams at the top. I don't know how they're gonna fill all the pre-draft show since everyone's mouth won't be full of Matthews and McJesus talk. But. I'm sure sportsmen will resort back to making all about the Leafs and Oilers wunderkids

Like other, I am strangely un-prepared for this draft, but I feel like you can never go wrong with drafting and developing D-Men. Even if you have too many, their value is much stronger on the market to trade for forwards. So any D-man will make me happy.

And if you are going to snag a F, for no reason at all, i seem to like Suzuki and Rob Thomas.
