No I'm not defending Trump at all. It is a fact though that you're going to need a massive out lay of cash some how and some way to even come close to fixing this. I guess if targets like the Paris deal encourage that spending then great. But it's tough to get that spending when there seems to be more penalties than rewards. It's not my thing to bicker about this. I do appreciate the sentiment in a pro player's tweet though.

I was wondering how toes and his g/f got to Hawaii? Large sailing ship, stand up paddle board, swim or take a large metallic object that spewed carbon?

My guess is he took an airplane, and that means he's a total goddamn hypocrite.
Anyone who acknowledges climate change or threats to our environment should live in a cave and eat foraged berries. Because anything beyond that is hypocrisy. If you enjoy the benefits or the modern world and travel by way of fossil fuels, you can't say a word about anything.
And how dare this hockey player say anything? Who's he? He's not an expert.

What a weak and tired counter response. Just because someone happens to use carbon emitting transportation (hint: we all do), doesn't mean they can't have valid concern about their effects.
There's this thing called society, which includes the things that we all do collectively, which is at the crux of this issue.
The way some of you approach this is that unless some guy travels by horse and carriage he can't have a concern about climate change.

Nah, its called putting your money where your mouth is. Lecturing publicly, wanting the whole world to change and accept it, while you have the resources yourself to do so, and then don't, looks like very hollow convictions. He probably is sleeping better at night, after relieving his green conscience. If all of Chicago was getting to the arena by Telsa's that were charged from generators attached to stationary bikes the team was peddling under his order, I might put an ounce of care into listening to what he was spewing. Just another celeb spouting off to the plebes.

Trump should join the army if he wants America to have better defenses. Makes sense, hunh.

Not all goals need to be accomplished. Failing to accomplish them can also be a great action, worthy of analysis as to what went wrong and what could be improved upon. But people get butt hurt on attempts because their lazy and scared. Plus the average person is carries a 90 IQ and had like a grade 8 reading ability. Asking something from the masses is futile. The same mass group of people who voted for Trump and Brexit is running this world.
That's why real leaders ignore the voices of dumb and ignorant.

Right, because things are only black and white. How about we can all do everything in our power to individually reduce resource usage and talk about how a certain portion of the population uses drastically more resources.
Anyway according to Elon Musk it would take about 100 Gigafactories to power the entire planet. If true that sounds more than doable. That's the type of thing we need to work towards, not signing meaningless agreements that will have little to no impact and in this case force the United States to meet emissions targets and pay billions to other nations in the process. China and India get a pass to what, 2030 or something like that? Why would the U.S. sign such a deal?
I know for sure the solution is not to build more server farms that use serious amounts of electricity just so people can Tweet out how much they care about the planet. Also if you buy bottled water #### you.

Had an idea!
|
Seems to be some belief that no matter what drastic measures we take there is too much carbon in the atmosphere that it will be impossible to reverse whatever will happen as a result of that.
At this point we need to fund large scale efforts to directly pull it out of the air and make use of it.

So you're more concerned with his social class than his message.
If some middle class guy name Frank who bought a Prius posted the same thing, would you consider the message any more seriously? I highly doubt it.

Fair enough comments on my post as I was unfair to JT.
I'd like to think if we can all do a little it would help.

Oh really? I think he was less concerned about relieving his green conscious as much as he was wanting to teach people and youth especially who look up to him about real world issues and the necessary changes they have to make - especially in the future when it may not be up to them anymore whether or not they can freely use products that use/require fossil fuels. He doesn't want kids running around with their heads cut off saying "they cant take this stuff away from me" like half the idiots south of the border these days as if they are entitled to anything that is somehow remotely greater and more significant than the ####ing planet we inhabit and depend on. He's helping people understand that if we don't do our due diligence now then we will reap the consequences later. Im completely fine with someone that has celebrity status is helping kids understand, otherwise they will look up to someone else like hmm i dont know... Trump? It was never about the celebrity anyway, its the message. Get a grip.
