I bet this gets overturned. It looks like a good goal to me.

Just thinking that. If that's Elliott holding onto a forward it gets overturned and is a good goal. I mean he's been pushed into the goal with a stick and it stood.
Do the caps not know who they're playing?

Another terrible call. Andersen doesn't even try to move away.

Yeah, if anything it looked to me like he was ensuring contact.

Andersen moves into the contact, holds on, isnt trying to track the puck. Should be a good goal...and it isnt. NHL wheel o' inconsistency continues to spin.

This Leafs game is eerily reminiscent of the Flames' last game.

I'm getting sick of the officiating from top to bottom. This attitude of 'backing your guys' and never overturning has got to stop. People make mistakes, the game is fast and messy, so as a fan I can forgive them. However if there is technology in place to allow thorough review, there's no excuse.
That caps goal should've stood and I don't think anyone who wasn't a leafs fan would disagree. If the ref had overturned along with 'goaltender was initiating contact' then that's done, people can understand the call.
The NHL and refs have zero accountability (unless Wideman is on ice), the hockey operations explanations are, without fail, vague and achieve absolutely nothing.
Lastly (forgive the rant), if the NHL really cared about getting the decision right then there's technology available that'll get you a definitive and correct decision. I bet it'd get you that decision faster than the review process as well. If the NHL don't want the tech to take over the game, that's fine, just don't leave us with this poor effort something in between.

There should not be a problem with the Ducks-Flames game starting on the CBC. The Capitals still lead 5-3.

I think the PA should hire Wideman after he is done this summer to go around taking runs at officials who
mess up calls.

If it was missed, Ryan makes it 1-0 for Ottawa, what a playoffs for him so far after a crappy regular season

The scoreless tie continues in the Senators-Bruins game after two periods. Bobby Ryan scores five minutes in the third period.

Or some broadcasting team/YouTuber/blogger could do a weekly 'referees getting it wrong, with Dennis Wideman' segment.

Haha. They've played very well, but man the Sens look good. Anderson is looking great in net and Karlsson is full beast right now. Even Ryan is playing well.
