Boom. Done.
Oh, and wear whites at home. At least during the regular season. In the playoffs, switch it up.

Or they can go with retros and eventually introduce a new third jersey.

Should be a exceedingly simple exercise - I'm interested to see how the Flames mess it up. Piping, pedestal, flaming snot, the name of the city, cowboy shoulders, more black? Any guesses?

Helmets to be replaced by actual cowboy hats. Elliott's pads will be made of saddles.

To those saying it's a simple money-making business decision to not return to the retros full time, what do you think about the best jerseys in the game? DET, CHI, NYR, TOR, BOS, PHI, etc. Why don't these teams go full time to some ugly gimmick like the Flames and sell their retros on the side? Why did PIT, STL, BUF, etc ditch ugly gold, ugly pyjama design, buffaslug, etc and return to something classic?
There are more variables to consider than "ugly abomination + retro = $$$$$$". There are costs involved with wearing reebok edge 2007 designs in 2017 - pride in one's team, for example. It's all laundry after all.

On a side note, what are the chances the Flames wear the retro/3rds for home games this playoffs? Don't teams have the option to wear the 3rds instead of the homes. SJ always wore the black 3rds in the playoffs.

I'm hoping for this. You're absolutely right about SJ and Edmonton is doing it this year

Are those actually mock ups from when they were designing the wordmark jersey?
No words...
The boot skate is actually kind of a cool retro looking logo. Shouldn't be anywhere near the front of a jersey though.

Some posters here already have the right idea but I wanted to add my 2 cents
- Fans love retro jerseys because they're simple .. not because its nostalic. 80's and 90's hockey jerseys were the best for being simple and attractive, with exceptions of course
- no other business model has this insane idea of 'we will TELL the fans what they want, instead of giving them what they want. its lunacy. it took the bombers almost 2 decades to finally go back to royal blue despite fans begging for it
- this idea that the flames can milk retros as a third for $$ is kind of silly. why not make your primary the attractive retro and enjoy the sales that way? you know, how teams with the high jersey sales do it.
- i can guarantee the jets will #### this up and not take advantage of this oppurtunity to go full time retros, despite their wild popularity in winnipeg and league wide.

Because for next year, you can't. The NHL is not allowing alternate jerseys next year. Only primary home and away.
The alternates will return in 2018-19, because money.

I don't think the Jets will ever go full time retro (though as a fan of collecting jerseys, I hope they do). Didn't Chipman and co. want to have their own unique branding for this iteration of the Jets and basically want no part of the old history? In my opinion, I think the Jets fans were lucky that they even brought out that old logo for an alternate/Heritage Classic this year. I must say though, the Heritage Classic threads they wore were spot on. I always preferred the 90's version, but that 80's style is just as sweet.
I am by no means an Oiler fan, but they did it right bringing back the 80's/90's look with a more simple, yet classic look. Hope the Flames, Jets, Senators, and even Canucks follow. The 90's version of the Senator (2D) was much better, especially once they introduced white into the uniform. As for the Canucks, the skate logo was always a classic, despite my hatred for that franchise.
