So he was in his first game, and decided he was going to show the Canucks what he was made of and make a statement on why he should stay with the team...
And he turtles.
No wonder the Canucks loved him

I'm not going to defend Burrow's actions in anyway on the ice he's as low as it gets for me. But....
My daughter does gymnastics in the afternoon and during her time the club has a lot of physically and mentally challenged kids in. I chatted with two women that have worked at one of the houses for quite a number of years and they both said Burrows was by far the best Vancouver athlete they have ever had associated with their house. He stopped by so many times and did so many things for those kids it was above and beyond. He even stopped to see one older boy in particular that he had been seeing for years to tell him in person that he had been traded but assured him he would be back in the summer to play hockey with him.
It should be perfectly clear to everyone that every single person in this world has different sides to them, right? That doesn't acquit Burrows from all the crap he's pulled over the course of his carreer. In my mind he is simply terrible, because an honest, good natured person would not be capable of doing a lot of the disgusting things he's done.

Just a tidbit about the person.

Im sure once he starts losing he will make fun of his handicap, you know just to get in his head. Or bite him.
I think there's ample evidence to support he's not a great human being. Even the most deplorable people can have brief moments of kindness. This is a guy after all that was under police investigation for swinging his stick like a baseball bat and striking the face of a 19 year old goaltender in a summer time hockey game. If you think Matt Cooke is a great human being then you probably feel the same about Burrows.

Was this the kid whose face he smashed with his hockey stick at a summer league? I hear the police were called.

I'm kind of sad he's not a Canuck anymore. Canucks fans and Burrows deserve each other. They're like a toxic relationship where both sides keep getting worse but always come to defend him and state "he's not that bad".
Even now that he's gone, the fans here in Vancouver continue to pretend he wasn't a terrible person.
They really were perfect for each other and it was great watching the franchise fall apart with him a part of it.

Can't stand Burrows as a player and it certainly seems to carry over whenever he is interviewed, as with Kesler and Bieksa. In contrast to Kesler though, Burrows always had a great reputation in the community and as a team-mate. Bieksa somewhere in between.
Anyone who has played on a team knows guys who seem great off the ice or playing field etc. who transform into ######s or a--holes while they're on it. I think Burrows is probably one of those guys. It's like some form of pathology.
Burrows was a hard-working penalty-killing machine, who chipped and scraped until he became the highest-scoring NHLer to ever come out of the ECHL.
He's one of the best underdog stories in the NHL.
It boggles the mind how big of a scum bag you would have to be in order to have a background like that and STILL become one of the most despised players in the sport.
I'm glad he's nice to kids with disabilities. I hope he gets kicked out of the NHL.

You guys really should separate the game from the man. Hate him for the hockey actions but its not like hes hanging with douglas garland. At the end of the day he's human just like everyone else....subject to anything bad and good...

I'm sorry but an adult taking baseball swings at the face of 19 year olds in a summer hockey game isn't something I would call "human" in the sense it's what most people do. Maybe he's fine as long as he's in comfortable settings but it's clear he has some issues when his adrenaline starts pumping as he's done stuff like bite, swing sticks and say things on the ice has crossed the point of trash talk. Not a great example of a human being I'm afraid.

Yes, he is. Anyone who taunts players over substance abuse issues that have already been addressed, attacks their family, or uses past incidents of abuse as a weapon is a certified piece of human garbage. Add in the biting, turtling, and hair pulling then Burrows turns into someone I'd heckle on the street as a dirtbag. I don't care that it happened on the ice. Good people don't behave the way he does.

He didn't cease to be a man when he stepped on the ice. He still chose to act the way he acts. You can't explain it away as just hockey. If you do then you might be the same calibre of excrement that Burrows is.

Then he should act like a human being on the ice.
Trash talk players about their skills, skating, but to call up child abuse(s) is beyond what is acceptable.
#### him.
