I wonder if Elliot gets fined for his comments?

Clearly, there were 5 opposing players on the ice at the moment the shot was taken. And if you watch real close, when Crosby's stick makes contact with Elliot's glove, there was a defender off to the right of the crease with his skate laces tied backwards, and the hot dog guy in the stands was out of change. Therefore, I don't think anyone familiar with the game has even the slightest clue what's going to happen with these calls.

Maybe Elliott was going to get a penalty for interfering with Crosbys stick but that penalty got wiped out by the goal.

I don't think it should matter if Elliott's glove touched the puck first or the stick did. If the stick then prevents Elliott from making a play, it's interference. But they couldn't overturn it. I think this "call on the ice" standard has to be reviewed.
Of course, the goal doesn't happen if Gio notices Sid sneaking in from behind.

I thought Crosby getting tight to Elliott and essentially pinning his arm was the more egregious part of the interference. Looked to me like Elliott could have got the puck before it fell in if he had been able to get his arm back properly.

CroFlames not happy about Crosby goal.
Simply put, how is it not interference? Elliott's glove was interfered with by Crosby stick, impeding his ability to make a save. Furthermore, after the fumbled puck, Elliott was unable to recover since Crosby was right in his kitchen.
Thankfully we won, but I'm really happy Elliott didn't mince words. That was a bull call.

I was surprised that it wasn't waved off immediately after it happened, and even more surprised that it wasn't waved off after the review.
The officiating in this league is a joke.

I think the real question here is: what does Connor McDavid say about it?

That goal should have been worth two goals resulting in a 4-3 Flames loss in regulation.

Nobody knows what any of the infractions are anymore because officiating is so unbelievably inconsistent. Officials are not calling obvious penalties but then will call something debatable. One night that play last night would be goalie interference, three nights later it isn't. NHL officiating is atrocious and a really serious problem the NHL needs to address but probably won't.

The NHL didn't need to explain it in a video because Brian Elliott already did it for them.
As I was watching the game, I was torn as to what I thought the right call should be, but then I realized who the potential "interferer" was and I decided the goal would stand. It did.

Very likely because it wasn't conclusive enough to overturn it. There was like one angle that showed it and even then only when you go frame by frame.

Marginal call at best by the NHL office. No repercussions for Elliott's comments - he was just being honest.

While true, a shoot out win isn't as valuable as a regulation or OT win in today's NHL. If it came down to a tie breaker of sorts, that shootout win could be detrimental.

Any chance there was one from the Kings game? I went looking for that one at the time, but didn't see it. Did I just miss it?
Thx

Had to endlessly scroll through the NHL's god awful website to find it though.

Washington and Pittsburgh going neck and neck for #1 in the league is good business. Of course the league wanted Pittsburgh to at least take that game to OT.
With that said, I understand how the review needs enough evidence to overturn the call. While I didn't think it should have been ruled a good goal to begin with, once it was I didn't think the review was conclusive enough to overturn it.
