I hate diving... but I also hate that he gets slashed 84 times per game with no call.

So the league lets every player hack him like crazy and doesn't call anything but then is shocked when he embellishes because no one is doing a ####ing thing about him being hacked?

Cool beans.

$2000 is nothing. I'm just worried about his rep and if the Refs actively seek out the diving every game.

Man. Gaudreau embellishes a little bit but no more than McDavid. But the worst thing is not even on the level of Crosby and Malkin.

This is sad.

Wait are you saying the reffing can get worse?

Let's be honest here and take the Flames goggles off. Gaudreau has been diving all year. Is it because of frustration with the no calls, probably. Did taking that approach instead of fighting through it make things worse than is already was, i'd say so. Warrener has been calling him out for diving all year on the Fan 960.

Where's McDavid's fine at?

That's all I have to say to this.

It was a high-stick. I distinctly remember Johnny complaining about being high-sticked. Probably didn't need to fall, but honestly I don't really blame him as these are the same biased officlals who allowed Minnesota to break his finger and deliberately messed up a penalty shot call a couple games ago.

I do think Johnny embellishes. I don't like it, but I see why he does it.
I guess it's a bit of a chicken and egg thing though; did he start embellishing/whining because he wasn't getting the calls, or is he not getting the calls because he's known for embellishing/whining?

I didn't think he was really embellishing in this case though...I though the call on Ho-Sang, and the call on Johnny were both incredibly weak. Not sure why the ref didn't just let the play go like 1000 other similar plays that are looked past every season.

Impossible not to sound biased in this situation, but Johnny's dives should be about 97th on the list of priorities for the NHL right now.

I think Johnny complaining after every non-call is factored into it. Refs seem like they're petty and hate when players do that.

They probably figure that playing in Edmonton is punishment enough, and still regretting not rigging that draft lottery.

How has McDavid not been fined publicly?

I don't think he dives. I think he b*tches too much to the refs.

He'll play through a play where he's hacked and slashed but when he's eventually taken down or whatever he throws a fit like a child. That needs to stop and I'm assuming it will has he gets older.

A lot of these young superstars have never had anything go against them in their entire lives including reffing until they make it to the big leagues. Little bit of entitlement probably.

Do they issue fines to refs for non-called slashes that Johnny gets? Or penalty shot non-calls when he's clearly on a breakaway?

If he doesn't want to be fined for diving he should probably stop diving.
