I think there was something in his contract about being paid per win. That likely made it much more difficult for the Flames to sign anyone off the street...they were a bad hockey team as it was let alone trying to play in front of a replacement level goal tender. Freddy came in and went on an insane run between Christmas and the all star break. IIRC he singlehandedly brought them back from the bottom of the league to being 500. But eventually he couldn't hold back all the leaks. They actually got into the playoff race until the Fleury trade ultimately took too much out of their lineup.

They went thru 5 other guys till they got to him.

As for Tampa...I feel bad for the players. But ha ha stupid Lighting.

This is a great opportunity for the former Calgary buffalo Brayden point to play big minutes in his rookie year

Johnson tries to dodge the hit which wedges his leg against the board funny, we have seen that happen to players many times.
I would agree if Niederriter hadn't stuck his knee out. He clearly sticks out his knee as he is coasting, and that has nothing to do with weight transfer. Johnson was skating forward and Niederriter was going to miss the hit - he should have stayed the course but instead stuck out his leg/knee to catch Johnson. It would be no different than an open ice hit where the player moves out of the lane when seeing a hit coming, and the defenseman sticks out his leg to catch the player. It might have been reflex/reactionary but classic knee imo.
