I highly doubt we move Engellend now that we are in the race.

Is the centre justify required? It changes to a mess on a phone.

Yea I can't see us moving Engellend.

He's been steady all year and is a big part of the team's overall toughness. He's an ideal bottom pairing guy if paired with someone who can move the puck.

Out of thanks, but thanks is earned on this Scorp.

I am 100% fine if the Flames stand pat, even Wideman. Like him or not, he is a solid depth piece. Even this season for a fairly long stretch, he looked decent playing top 4 minutes (though all 4 wheels seemed to fly off the wagon in the last 1.5 months or so).

Hopefully Treliving makes a move to clear some space and use up those overages, and this is why I am hesitant on Vrbata with his bonus-laden contract. You also have to wonder which Vrbata you are getting - the one that played awesome with the Sedins 2 seasons ago and the one that is looking decent this season, or the one last season that looked a lot like Rene Bourque without the physicality. I won't be bothered either way with what happens there, though it is really dependent on the acquisition price.

Like it or not, Jarome actually makes some sense, even without the nostalgia, due to what is probably a low acquisition cost. I think Iginla looks better this year than Doan does, so it makes me really curious as to why someone would prefer Doan over Iginla.

Habs not done. Trying for size up front

Vanek situation likely depends on Vrbata. Once Vrbata goes, should loosen up market on Vanek.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Some things to watch: BOS/maybe CAL on Vrbata. FLA/LA on Vanek. Del Zotto showcase last night for PHI.

Valtteri Filppula rejected a trade to Toronto this week. Part of a bigger trade with Brian Boyle. #tvasports

Did Freidman mention the Flames are also interested in Lazar?

Ahhhh Trade Deadline Day, one of my least productive days at work. My TSN, Sportsnet and bleacher report apps tend to notify me minutes after sureloss when a trade has occurred, yet I still feel the need to surf CP all day.

Big thanks to sureloss for all the hard work he will do today!! You make the CP community a better place for all

Edit: I'm still in favour of sureloss news only thread if possible

The minor move I'd love to see the flames is replacing Stavanger as the 4th line c.

Someone that is an upgrade on any one of or combination of speed, skill, size. Stajan is lacking all these.

According to John Shannon, Flames are looking at upgrading at center or Landeskog.

Gotta say, I think Stajan has been the perfect 4th line centre this year. Has done everything expected of him and done it well. Plus the guy is loved by his teammates!

Hoping to get some return on Kulikov/Franson. Kane is tricky -- his value now is the highest it's been in years, but he's also got a year left on his contract.
