I am just pointing out a classic overreaction of sports fans that happens with every fanbase.

Yeah, except most fan bases tend to overvalue their own players. CP? Nope, the moment a guy starts making money he's overpaid, over the hill, and we'd be lucky if someone took on his contract.

Really liked jokipakka last year but he has taken a step back this year it seems.

Unfortunate, he looked like he could've been the cherry on top of the Russell trade.

Just like Joe Colborne, Jokipakka showed well during meaningless games. Enough reason to draw some excitement, but ultimately, he's been bad all season and the bottom pairing has been a fair bit better since Bartkowski took his play.

Likely means he has been told that he will be sent to Stockton if he clears:

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Jyrki Jokipakka, on waivers today, is not on the ice with the #Flames this morning.

Surprised the Flames couldn't get anything for him. Looks like Wideman is sticking around.

Hmm, so not a paper transaction.

Indication the Flames will be looking to add another body without subtracting from the roster?

He might still be in the long term plans of the organizations.

THis is one of the best times to put a player on waivers because of amount of other available players drifting through waivers right now.

He's been working in the front office all season. Pretty sure (My rando thoughts) the plan is to transition him to full time office guy. His neck is basically a straw holding up a watermelon, and the Flames don't want the guy to end his career/life with a single hit.

All of Scorpion's favorite players and players he gets jerseys for are either terrible or will become terrible. (No offense Scorpion)

Next is Versteeg which is too bad because he's been pretty decent this year, guess he's gone at the deadline or in the offseason.

My baseless speculation:

1) Clear Jokipakka
2) Recall Hathaway
3) Trade Bouma?

Either a trade or we could not find a dance partner for Wideman. I still think there is potential in Jokipokka but he needs to play to find consistency.

Is it exactly after the trade deadline that rosters expand?

If so, Kevin might well be back after picking up some air miles to Stockton.

Too bad he never panned out. He reminds me of Ian White when he got traded to the Flames. After the Phaneuf trade, White actually looked better then Phaneuf and we were all saying we'd possibly won the trade. When Jokipakka was traded here, most people (myself included) thought he played pretty well to end the season and he was the better player.

Fast foward a season for both players, and they both bombed their 2nd year here. Hopefully he can find his game in the AHL, or do well on another team. I thought he was pretty decent when he first arrived. But him along with Wideman were the posters boys for porous defensive hockey all season long.
