I think the gut reaction is that total chaos response. But that would assume people would cherry pick or fly the zone at the first chance of going the other way. But the current game allows that to happen up to the blue opposing blue line and we don't see a rash of cherry picking or people totally abandoning the defensive zone.

I don't recall there being much change in that respect when they eliminated the 2 line pass years back. The one difference I think was that the increased speed through the neutral zone did increase the hits to the head / concussions that we deal with more. But honestly, if things weren't so clogged in the neutral zone because of the jockeying for position to gain the blue line, it might actually make things better. But that could also lead to more danger in the corners as players and the puck get to that area with more speed more often.

Who knows. The idea is wacky. I just for the life of me can't really think of many positive reasons to keep the blue line. I think the game could be infinitely more exciting without it while not totally ruining the spirit of the game.

You could adjust offside by incorporating both it, and the two line pass rule.

No two line passes into the opponent's zone.

One simple rule, keeps the spirit of "offside" and likely speeds the game way up and increases chances. If you're past the center line, it's free game.

Not bad. I'd like to see that tried as an experiment somewhere.

What do you mean "No two line passes into the opponent's zone"?

Are you saying once you are past the center line the players would be allowed to pass to a teammate already in the offensive zone? If yes, I think that would be nuts, but I'm thinking I'm not understanding you correctly.
