I never understood the love affair with this stuff when making a real macaroni or other pasta and cheese is so simple.
Like another poster said, get some real imported pasta and if you want a nice, cheesy easy to make sauce try this.
In a small pot, add a nice sized chunk of butter (2 inch by 2 inch) add some salt and than melt it under medium high heat. Bring it to the point just about before it turns brown and all a little salted cheese like a REAL Parmesan or other gradable cheese. Wisk the butter and cheese mixture to blend together, add a bit of pepper and then pour over pasta. Toss the pasta to mix the butter sauce and than top off with some more cheese. Tastes amazing and its all 100% natural as opposed to some of that mass produced stuff from Kraft.
Happy cooking!

I'm sure we all know how to make a "real" mac and cheese. There is something nostalgic about KD, nice to have every so often. I'm not going to make it for a dinner party, but for a lunch on a Sunday when I'm watching TV? I'll enjoy that!

Use 2 cheese packets with one box of macaroni. Save the pasta from the other box for something else like a tuna casserole. Add some pepper and that's it.

Isn't making the best KD kinda like being the best at kicking your own ass?

Yeah the thread is about making KD, not a gourmet Mac and Cheese.
KD is the ultimate easy to make comfort food.

I suggested a 3/2 cheese to pasta ratio but am very intrigued by your 2/1 ratio. May need to give it a try.

We are generally a "make to recipe" family with the usual less milk/more butter ratio. However, one time we crushed up sweet chili heat doritos into the KD and baked it in the oven with some grated cheddar on top. It was magic!
I will also echo the Annie's support, they have a good product.

Natural flavour? It's powdered cheese from a packet, man!
Just enjoy it for what it is.... Un-natural cheese deliciousness!

Here's my recipe. Prep the KD the way you like it, first, whatever it is. Then, when it's ready, boil some olive oil in a frying pan and spread the whole thing in it evenly. Fry on one side until golden crust forms, then flip over, repeat until the other side is the same. Then, cut in stripes and fry the cut sides until they form crust. Sprinkle grated Parmesan over everything while still in the pan. Add ground pepper to taste. Serve hot with a pickle and glass of white wine.
P.S. No ketchup!
