The Coilers have had to ake tired teams on the second night of back-to-backs and playing their 3rd in 4 nights to overtime to eek out wins. Their only regulation win in their last what, 5, was against the second worst team in the league who utterly crapped the bed that game.
Playing a tired Florida team the Coilers gave up a 2 goal lead and required a late thrid period goal to re-tie the game and force overtime. And that was against a former Leafs reject back-up goalie. The previous night the Flames put 6 past one of the (supposed) best goalies in the game.
They aren't playing good hockey. They are hanging on by a thread. The longer Talbot goes the sooner their downfall comes.
After the All-Star break is when playing with luck on the backs of 2 players will do them in. If they make the playoffs it will be on the backs of all the OT games they forced. But that is a big if.
Anyone concerned the Preds might pass the Flames should be comforted by the Coilers dropping out to a bubble position. Besides St. Louis is in a world of hurt now and the Kings are barely hanging on as well.
At the end of the season though, the Flames make the playoffs or they don't on their own merit. So no, you never have permission to cheer for the Coilers and you should wash your mouth out with soap for ever suggesting such a moronic idea.
