I agree that Johnny complains, and it hurts his cause as refs don't like that.
Counter point, however: McDavid whines to the refs substantially more than Johnny does, IMO, and yet gets calls at a ridiculous, and very un-young-player-like pace.
I don't disagree that he complains. He gets egregiously tripped with a stick clearly cork-screwed between his legs and then high sticked on the way down, I don't fault him for getting up with a "wtf" look on his face. It's embarrassing to the game when things that blatant aren't called.
I'm just opposed to the group on this site who keep saying he does that "all the time" or "every shift".
I have no issue with hoping he tones it down, but to me the talking point isn't the complaining, it's the egregious and negligent officiating that's getting worse and worse as the season goes on. He's already had a finger broken... if something isn't done something far worse is going to happen and his facial expression to the officials after it does isn't going to be the talking point.

I agree that some people grossly exaggerate the amount that he complains.
