Unless they were talking to Gallant about a position other thank head coach, such as the Shanahan type role

Weird. It's arguable that Gallant was out-coached in the playoffs last year as he never had a solution for Tavares. They observed that first hand. However, Gallant should never have been fired by the Panthers in the first place and I think he'd do really well with the Islanders. Yet part of me doesn't want him to end up in that joke of a franchise. After a few good seasons, the Islanders are close to being the laughing stock of the league again. Gallant is such a good guy, he deserves better.

Weight will return next season as the Isles Head Coach. He had a 24-12-4 record to end the season
