Quick question...

Why is it people bag on the US all the time saying how very stupid they are but when it comes to NASA and space exploration all the "we" and "our" words come out?

Not trying to be an ass but why doesn't Canada have a space program? Certainly have the talent and with the budget surpluses there is not reason that it can't be done. If the government is looking for a non confrontational method of increasing Canada's stature in the world this would be a good method.

Im confused why this is such a new and exciting venture. Did NASA lose all their notes from the last moonlanding?

The people and the technology that did that are how old now? If they are going to use new technolosy they need to give it a thurough testing.

They do. Except it comes mostly from private sources. More efficient than from a government source. As well most of the underwater exploration data to date is top secret info in vaults across the globe.

As is there is no private company or consortium that can do what NASA does....yet.
