Hopefully the Flames unleash the beast against the jets tonight.

If the flames stick to their game they will win handily . The Jets are my second favourite team but until they change the coach and their culture they aren't going anywhere in the standings.

Please stop making Engelland and Jokipakka a thing. It'll never be a thing

Can we just sit Wideman already? He adds nothing. I mean, Gulutzan has to see that right?

Throw Kulak with Brodie and you've got a very solid top-4 on defense.

For this team to be in a dogfight for a playoff spot when we have teams like Arizona, Vancouver and Edmonton to harvest points off of is a travesty.

Showcasing Wideman in order to move prior to or at the trade deadline? Aside from that, I got nothing.

Wideman's been fine. If anyone, Jokipakka should sit, as awesome as his name is

Which terrible teams are those? With the Flames recent run against bad teams I would say that they have been managing to do just what you are suggesting.

Yeah unlike last season ,the Flames are actually beating teams they are supposed to. The only real blip were those couple of nasty oiler games at the start.

Honestly, I think Wideman has been decent. He's not a top 4 defenceman.

The fact is that the Flames are only 3 deep on the blueline. It's an area that they have to upgrade, they need another top 4 defenceman, but they also can't acquire him until after the expansion draft.

You could argue Engelland is a better partner for Brodie, but then you leave Wideman with Jokipakka which would be a nightmare.

LOL what the hell is this garbage??

That's because the Flames' leading goal scorer and cornerstone of the franchise, Patrik Laine, is out indefinitely with a concussion.

The Flames are leading the three-game season series thus far. They beat the Jets -- with Laine patrolling right wing -- 6-2 in Calgary on Dec. 10.
One of the laziest 'sports' articles ever written. Not only should the author be fired, but the manager/editor who approved it.

Literally an article of lies.

You'd think so, wouldn't you.

Anyway, that AP article reminds me of a listicle I accidentally clicked on on Facebook of the "most disappointing players" or some such that had Nick Schmaltz on it, bemoaning his poor play as a blue chip defensive prospect and noting that it would be really hard for him to get good minutes on a blue line that features Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson and Van Riemsdyk.

Nick Schmaltz is a RW.

Confirmed via twitter in another thread that Calgary will be wearing the Black 'C' Home Jerseys.

lol Calgary has been owning easy teams where have you been?

They lost one game to Vancouver they absolutely dominated...Vancouver also has 20 wins on the season they have beaten some obvious playoff teams

and Edmonton, seriously I know we hate them around here but they are not an easy 2 points anymore, its time for a reality check

I agreee Wideman has been pretty decent (far better than the criticism he gets). And no, he's not worth his salary and there are better #4 defencemen (not on the Flames though). IMO Engelland doesn't suit Brodie as well as Wideman. Also, as you point out, Wideman is probably a worse #5-6 than a #4.

Frankly, finding a #4 can be overrated. Who was the #4 playing with the Habs' big 3 all those great years? Bill Nyrop?
