Brooklyn is a hot mess, and the next to go, probably, will be Capuano...scapegoating Halak will not absolve Snow from the garbage fire he started by dumping too much offense.

It is the rumour speculation thread. More a reference and a little conversation about them (just comparing the sum of all their current goalies combining into one). It was a couple weeks back and starts after post 6357 if you are bored.

The fact that he still has a year left on his deal is why he'll clear. I think the Oilers may consider him on an expiring contract. But nobody wants that next year.
Plus anyone wanting to take on Halak will want to shed money the other way. The only way he moves is via trade.

I can't believe that anyone would think that Halak is an improvement on Elliott at this point.
It's okay to just let guys clear waivers sometimes, you don't have to try and work each one of them onto your imagined roster.

The Leafs would be remiss not to claim him.

I think the Leafs are dealing with a myriad of issues from being at 23/23 for roster, 47/50 for contracts and having very little capspace. Not to mention, Andersen has been great for since first couple weeks in the season so Halak becomes an extreme luxury.

There was a three headed goalie monster in New York? Greiss, Halak and who else?

He just had 91.9% last year, and even this year he hasn't been THAT bad.
His career playoff save percentage is 92.4%.

If He clears I could see the Oilers trading Fayne for him dunno if NYI want the cap space or not. Would save about .85 million.

I think it shows how hard it is to move a goalie right now. Probably a bit harder as there are a lot of dominos that need to fall, especially withe the expansion draft coming up. Also could be a FU/Told you so to his agent who has probably been bugging Snow since October.

Penguins (with MAF) sink into their seats when he clears.

Its clear 3 goalie situations never work. Even if you have gave each goalie 27 starts, it wouldn't work. Goalies must get bombarded with shots to be successful, or something like that.

Halak is still a servicable goaltender, on an un-imaginably poorly managed NYI team.
I don't want him in Calgary , but if Dallas can swing it, it may swing their season.

What about San Jose? Couldn't they use some goalie support?

My guess is he will clear and then the isles will trade him for someone else's waiver fodder...Or for Ondrej Pavelec or something.
