No one is really sure how neurons age, and their ability to age may be dependent on the organism they inhabit:

It's definitely interesting. We really don't understand a whole lot about neurons, how they funciton, age, etc...
If we find out how neuron cells manage to live so long, that in itself could be the key to finding out why and how the other cells don't.
