I'm finding it hard to care about the Panthers with how disorganized and unprofessional they've been lately. At least Viola was able to admit he made a mistake and put Tallon back in charge.
Such a shame after such a successful season last year that had lots of fans coming out to games. Attendance has dropped off again this year.

Well at least you can get back to caring about the flames. I think early on this year you were saying you were having trouble caring about the flames as well. (like many of us)

Steve dangle interviewed the owner last week, which was interesting to say the least. Owner was pretty cordial. One of the questions asked was has dale tallon been demoted yet you continue to lean on him? Guess we can put that to bed

So he was a bad pick because a bunch of numbers about people's opinions off the ice look worse than a bunch of numbers about his accomplishments on the ice? All righty then.

I never said he was a bad pick. Borgstrom was a very early pick for an overage player.

Precisely because things looked fine last year. The '15-16 Panthers were basically a bubble team that had a hot streak in mid-season. The '16-17 Panthers seem to be a bubble team that had a lousy start. (This should remind us all of a certain other team that occasionally gets discussed around here.)
If you have a meddling owner with a short fuse, he's liable to kid himself that last season represented the true state of the franchise, and think somebody needs to be fired for underachieving so badly this year.
Of course, things have only got worse since the firing, which shows that at Gallant was not the problem after all. Oops.

In other words, you're saying he was a bad pick for the first round.

No. I am only pointing out that it was a surprising pick. We can't know one way or the other for a couple of years yet, but it was a very early selection of an overage player.

I dont see how Jankowski is comparable, one is an overager and the other was so young that he barely made the cutoff of that draft class.
An actually comparable would be if we took Hunter Smith late in the 1st.

Unbelievable that they would take such a large self imposed step back after a hugely successful season last year.
I feel terrible for the dozen or so Panther fans out there.

Dreger is the only one reporting this. Friedman's take:

McKenzie backing up Dreger's report after Panthers have been denying the story. Quite the rant for McKenzie

You know...it will be a sad day the day the McKenzie hangs 'em up.
Because the day that man comes and tells you that you're full of it you'd better take that opportunity to really make a brutal self-assessment.

He really is a good dude and maybe my favourite hockey insider of all time. You know if he puts out a rumour that there's smoke behind it because he doesn't make up rumours and he's as professional as they come. He was on Howard Stern last earlier in the year and it was another side of him you never would have thought existed.

Not sure where to put this, or if it's been posted anywhere, but Trump has nominated Vinnie Viola to be Secretary of the Army. He'll be giving governorship of the team away to someone else. Better for the team, much worse for the Army.
