I prefer Hathaway to Bouma in general right now, but I'm not opposed to seeing if Bouma can find his game. Peak Bouma is probably better than what Hathaway brings right now. Problem is that we haven't seen peak Bouma for a while.

Love what Hathaway brings but Bouma is more likely to get you a goal when you need it, recent offensive outburst notwithstanding, scoring is still a bit of a problem.
Also, you need to play Bouma to get eyes on him around the league, he is a ripe candidate to be moved if he starts playing well.

Hopefully the boys aren't too rusty after so much time off. Stamkos and Kucherov being out is huge. Flames need to take advantage of that.
4-2 Flames.

It was a good goal too, lots of hustle. I didn't really notice him before then though.

I don't want either Hathaway or Bouma in the lineup. Not sure we have a better alternative right now though. Maybe Janko but I'd rather have him develop in a huge role in STK.

I'm all for a little healthy competition in the midst of a six game winning streak.. Didn't like Bouma's first portion of the season, but how many Flames can we say that for? Love the luxury of having Hathaway around now to really push for that spot and at the very least make sure Bouma earns it

The vet gets the call over the young guy, I'm ok with that for now, Bouma needs a chance to play but he better show up in a positive way. Hathaway has been a beaut this year and I think he deserves his roster spot but Bouma deserves a shot as well. How else comes out? I was thinking Bouma could swap into Chiasson's spot but that line is playing well as well. It's a minor move, let's see the results on the ice.

Hathaway probably could use a night off, he's been playing balls to the wall since he was called up. Bouma looked good in his showing on Saturday too.

I can understand why many are down on Bouma right now but I feel too many have forgotten how effective peak Bouma was. Now maybe he'll never get there again as injuries, style-of-play and the Backlund-effect are all factors but I believe he deserves another chance to be that guy again.
I remember timely goals, great penalty killing, some good scraps and some excellent shot blocking. These heart-and-soul guys are my favourite types of players. Every team that does well in the playoffs has them and they tend to excel at crunch time. And usually there is more than one per team. Think of what players like Shaw and Bickell did in Chicago, Nolan, Clifford and King in Chicago, the havoc Bernier, Gionta and Carter created for the Devils, Paille and Campbell in Boston, Moen and Pahlsson in Anaheim. Remeber what important roles Niemenen and Simon played in the 2004 run. Colin Patterson and Mark Hunter during the 89 cup.
While we all know the problems of having too many fourth liners there is such a thing as too few. And sometimes what these guys are doing for you in game 25 of the season makes them look expendable but they are often important in the 90th and 100th game of the season.
I like Hathaway. I think he's one of these players but just because we have him doesn't mean we're set and Bouma should be traded. Picture a grinding playoff series and sending out a line of Ferland-Bouma-Hathaway to forecheck the other teams tired defenseman into exhaustion so Johnny, Monahan and Bennett can dance around them late in the game.
There is still a chance Bouma can be that guy and I want him to play to see if he is rather than play him with the hope of him becoming attractive enough to trade.

Not a bad lineup, now just replace Chiasson with Iggy and we could be set!

Bouma has been invisible for a while now and that goal didn't change anything for me. Hathaway is the much better option, shows way more hustle and is better defensively. Hopefully this is just a one game thing.

Lightning are fragile right now. Pump a quick goal or two in and it should be a long night for them. Hoping the Flames play well and the great run they are on continues.
