I wonder how much statistical analysis Chayka did on this trade.

This trade, statistically speaking, was harmless.

Looks like conditional pick might have been given up to outbid Vancouver.

James Mirtle @mirtle
Sounds like Vancouver might have been the other option for moving Peter Holland. Not ton of suitors. Don't expect much return here.

Conditions

#TML will only receive a 2018 sixth-round pick if the #Coyotes re-sign Holland or trade him, Chayka said.

‘I'll pay you a buck for the mystery box, but only if it turns out to be a boat!’

You certainly can't say that Chayka gave up too much.

It allows Arizona to send him to Tucson without taking the risk of exposing him on waivers themselves with him clearing recently

He has been on the NHL roster for 30 days since he last cleared waivers IIRC. Didn't he clear waivers during the summer?

edit: yup. the last time he was on waivers was a few days before his arbitration hearing to weaken his arbitration case.

He has to clear waivers again to be assigned now. Otherwise the Leafs would have assigned him long ago.

e5 - Vancouver offered "put him on a plane and someone will pick him up at the airport".

I am glad this deal was consummated after the flames played the Yates. It may have tipped the scale and that would have really hurt if we wound up two points outside the playoffs

Is this a serious post? It's so hard to tell these days.
