People need to relax with Brodie. Hes been elite for the past 3 seasons hes bound to have an off year, every elite defensemen does. Look at Doughty and Kieth they have both struggled a bit this year. Hell even Mcdonough struggled the last 2 years but hes putting up an elite season this year. Add on top of that the devestating personal news he was given before the season and having to learn a new system I think we should just wait it out and let him play through it.

If this is directed at me, I can assure you I am entirely relaxed, one of Brodie's biggest fans, and not at all concerned about his play.
I was simply suggesting that I would like to see him back on the right side, with a more stable defensive partner than Wideman.

Probably makes an annual wage of 60k and claims he makes under $7 an hour because he's on call 24-7.

Yep, apparently the military makes him work 24-7-365 without any ti e off.
I'm not 100℅ sure on this but doesn't the military also provide accommodations?

Glad you mentioned this. In addition to getting Kulak back on the ice, I think some of these switcheroos are done in part to be fair to the young guys on 2-way contracts. I know the NHL is not an Alberta-like socialist paradise, but spreading the wealth around a bit could help build some good will for future negotiations.

My point wasn't for sympathy, it's what I signed up for and am proud to do. But for those making lite of it, it's pretty disgusting.
Have you ever been called in to work for a manning check and high readiness drills at 0330?
You are not granted time off or time out of area without a signed leave pass from your chain of command. That leave pass can be revoked at anytime and a 12 hour window to report stands.
Accommodations? pic won't imbed so here's a link

You mean those? Classy comment bud. Just shows how out of touch many of you actually are.
As for my point, I don't feel bad for a guy who goes from making $3600 a day to $380 a day playing a game..

For sure. I don't know if it's remotely related to socialism, but more so return on investment. They pay millions in salary for scouting, trainers, couches, development, and medical staff - along with an entire farm club - with hopes that some of these kids become key components to their team, bringing in millions in playoff revenue, merchandise, and ticket sales. Every business offers a little carrot on a stick to reduce the costs of attrition, and unfortunately for the guy supposedly making 7 bucks an hour for 3rd world working conditions, some companies have more foresight than others.
Wotherspoon has spent a lot of time in the A, much like F. Hamilton and Hathaway. I'm sure NHL teams have policies and development models that financially reward prospects who put in the time in order to maintain the culture of "earning your way" in the business. As soon as they start having newly drafted guys getting paid money and getting opportunities that seasoned guys don't get, they will suffer from a high turn over rate.

Regarding Brodie, some of your are talking like he hasn't had a good game all season.
He's had a couple really good games recently. He was our best player for one game (I forget which one) while playing on his natural side (I even recall in the PGT that many people were giving props to Brodie). I'm starting to see those plays of his where he closes people out and effortlessly takes the puck away and calmly passes it up the ice.
I think he'll be fine and we'll see more from him in the next few weeks.

The Flames also might see value in Brodie learning to play on the left. Brodie has 10+ years of hockey in him and if it only takes a few weeks of games to adjust, it's better for him and the hockey club. He's getting paid either way, and it's ultimately the team that suffers if these experiments fail.
Team's undergo injuries, or rosters might be built lopsided with RD, or coaches might have their own unique powerplay formations, so ultimately, Brodie being able to flexibly play both sides makes him a better asset to the team than if they have to indefinitely accommodate him to one side.
They must believe Brodie is smart enough to make these adjustments, and the fact that he's a lefty makes it more logical. It's certainly a better idea than asking Hamilton or Wideman to play on the left, and Brodie is too good to play on the bottom pairing.

Maybe he should look at it the other way around - he was slotted to make $380/day in the A and got to briefly multiply that by almost 1000% for a fairly long while.

IMO Brodie's issues this season have been in unfortunate pinches and turnovers, and in being easily bodied off the puck in the defensive zone. I don't think those mistakes have anything to do with Wideman and I can't see what they have to do with playing his on-hand side (which should actually help in puck protection in both ends of the ice).

You can take the best defenseman in the league, put him on his off-side, and have him play with Wideman, and he will look bad. Brodie is good enough that we can still win games with this stupid experiment. When Gio was asked to carry Wideman it was a disaster.
Press box Wideman. We have three good power play defenseman already.

Wideman is responsible for the slow start of the Flames.
Wideman is responsible for Giordano's poor performance to start the season.
Wideman is responsible for Brodie's inconsistent play.
Wideman is responsible for Gaudreau's finger to break.
Wideman is responsible for the phantom goal in '04 to be missed by all the officials.
Wideman is responsible for the First World War.
Wideman is responsible for global warming.
Wideman is responsible for the impending invasion of the reverse vampires funded by the Rand corporation.
Did I miss any?
Here all along, I thought Wideman was playing some consistently pretty good hockey for a while now. I obviously need to get a 4K TV and a pair of glasses just to make sure I am seeing the enormous black hole of suck that makes everyone near him suddenly play bad.

Wideman is responsible for us being the most penalized team in the league.
Did I do it right?

I don't want the chemistry messed with if only because Wideman is finally starting to look tradable again. If Brodie is in anyway responsible for this, then please keep them together a while longer. I want #6 off this team.

Brodie is not carrying Wideman this season. If anything, Wideman is having to play a stronger defensive game because Brodie is messing up by giving the puck away in the offensive zone or losing possession in the corners.
Brodie would be making the same mistake as he's making right now if he plays with Hamilton or Engelland IMO.
And they are not putting Brodie on his off-side. They are doing the opposite. if he makes the adaptation, his game will improve a lot and it will benefit the team.
