Nobody giving Chiasson any credit still (not singling you out, just noticing a trend).
His plus/minus is ranked 7th on the team. Flawed stat I know, but if you compare it to teammates it does represent something worthwhile.
He has 5 goals, 1 of them being short-handed, and 1 of them being a game winning goal.
He has 10 points on the year in 28 games, ranking him 9th on the team. That rate extrapolates out to around 30 points on the year, which is what you would expect of a 3rd line winger.
He had all of 14 points last year in Ottawa.
He's been better than I expected. He's not a highly skilled player, but he does a lot of little things right, forechecks well, and helps to get the puck to our skilled guys. Anything else he does on top of that is gravy.
When he was playing with Monahan/Gaudreau, I wanted him off the team asap. Was taking terrible penalties, read the play very poorly, and generally played with terrible awareness. I'm still skeptical, but if he keeps playing as he has since that stretch of awful play ended, then he is probably our second best right wing after Frolik. I think the Backlund/Tkachuk line is making room for the other lines right now and Gulutzan needs to resist temptation of using Gaudreau's line in every situation to keep Chiasson from being overwhelmed if he is going to play with Johnny.

Flames are playing really well of late and appear to be trending upwards. This is the first time all season I've actually felt confident going into a game.

He's also been signed to a 1.2 million dollar salary. It's been a great low risk signing. Just because he was slotted to play on the first line for a bit does not mean that's what he was signed for. He is outperforming his contract to be honest, which is good for us.
As an aside Lance Bouma has 1 point in 13 games on a 2.1 million dollar contract.

After we beat CLB and then Boston I was feeling really good about the flames and I felt like we would walk into Philly and take that one too, instead flames got outworked and lost pretty badly.
Right now the flames are playing their best hockey of the season and now I'm starting to feel great about them again. However they tend to lose whenever I really think they've turned the corner, please change that today. Won't be easy though, I don't care how poorly Dallas has played, they looked solid last game and they still have one of the deadliest offenses in the league. We're gonna need CJ to continue being our best player and we need Johnny to have that same jump he had last game.

The Minnesota North Stars NHL Hockey Team was a favorite staple in the Northland. That was until eccentric deep pocketed new team owner Norm Green ripped out our collective hearts and moved the team to hockey hotbed Dallas, Texas. I was the only one who went out and got the reaction from the fans in this early digital video from 1993. Mr. Green is mostly hated in Minnesota as these fans will testify.
