Probably because they have been absolutely horrible together, also?

Have they spent more than 3 or 4 games together?

Gulutzan split up one of the undisputed best defensive pairings in the league over the last 2 seasons, where both players had Norris votes and both were considered for Canadian international tournament teams.

And now what do we have? Giordano is off to his worst offensive start in 4 years, and is scrambling in the defensive zone. Brodie is off to the worst offensive start of his career, and is scrambling in the defensive zone. Brodie has publicly expressed that he is more comfortable, and sees the ice better on the right side. The team is allowing the most goals against per game since 1991.

There is an obvious fix here. I want to know why Gulutzan insists on splitting these 2 players, in spite of everything pointing to it being the wrong move.

Meanwhile, the only PTO player they should have even considered keeping now has a three game goal scoring streak.

No, I'm sure you are right in only. 3 or 4 games. But i'm assuming it has been because they have been terrible together. Statistically and visually worse together. This season.
Not defending a decision not to stick with keeping them together, despite how terrible they have been together, this season.
It might work itself out faster together than apart. I dunno

He is referring to Korpikoski, not that I think this would have made any sort of improvement.

I would sit a few players. If they show the lack of effort, sit them for a game.
Happened to Johnny his first year and then he started to play.

Yeah I wouldn't do Ferland. I think he's gone before the deadline.

Feels like a guy that could be an adder in a bigger deal - enough size and potential to be attractive for another team.

I don't see the Flames making a big deal out of desperation unless they are willing to shake things up by moving Gaudreau, Brodie, or Hamilton for a player of equal value. I feel Giordano is the player that would be the best to move if they could find a taker for the contract as his window of opportunity is not adjacent to the team's. I suppose a depth player like Ferland could be useful on a playoff drive for a team but I don't see him having a lot of value as if you could get a 3rd round pick that would be fantastic.

I hope not. He's one of my favourite players and is starting to show a little scoring touch. So far I have faith in Treliving but this would make me re-examine that.

We did nab Bruce though, 7th rnd in 2015. Don't think he is the solution to our woes though.

Trading Ferland would be a big mistake IMO.

Ferland is way too inconsistent to have a regular spot in this league. I hope they do trade him if they can get any sort of valuable asset back.

I think he could fetch a third rounder.
