This team is going to put together some kind of little winning streak to inject some hope, right?

Seasons already over. This team is just useless.

Sad but true. No pressure, playing against back-up goalies and teams that look past them, and they will rack up points to their detriment.

I don't want a new coach at the beginning of next year. They'll roll out the same excuses, "Hey the team has to get used to the new coach, why panic the season is still early." I want a new coach mid-season so there isn't that crutch to lean on next October. This team seems to have adopted the long forgotten Iginla early slump syndrome, even though Iggy has been gone for quite a long while now.

They'll no doubt do on a good run in Feb or March. Enough to take them out of top-3 pick range.

Season is pretty much a write off at this point, as far as playoff hopes go.

If the system/coaching is good enough, and the core players are/will be good enough then all you can hope for now is that as the season progresses they gradually improve and finish the season as one of the better teams in the second half. Then improve the roster in the 2017 off season and hit the ground running for the 2017/18 season.

If the system/coaching isn't good enough, and/or the core players aren't/won't be good enough then this rebuild is in big trouble.

No point in panicking though, either way.

I will say though, that there are definitely some cracks showing in what used to be the very high confidence level I had in our core pieces (Monahan, Gaudreau, Brodie, Gio, Hamilton, Bennett) and in our GM/front office.

If so, then we should immediately jettison every one of the soft, entitled, crybaby asses who have tuned him out as fast possible. This coach really may suck, I dunno, but we are never winning #### if that is the temperament and mindset of this bunch of players.

Given that the Flames are now on pace for a wonderful 58 point season......which is a TON better than either the expansion Capitals or the 92-93 Senators.....shouldn't we be ecstatic?

I love my team, but hate their play, their coaching, their (non-)systems....panic isn't really in my nature for that kind of thing, but apathy sure is. Glad that I've moved to BC and am not a STH anymore. It was hard enough to get to games when they were good; I can't imagine how current ticket holders feel.

That would be the worst thing we could possibly do. If you identify a specific star player that doesn't appear to be able to respond to any coach then yeah you try to wait for the right time and sell as high as possible.

But when you have a whole whack of players that seem to have tuned out a coach you would never want to jettison multiple players at their lowest value. That would be the worst asset management imaginable.

He was loaded with underperforming vets with no trade clauses and was able to turn the team around. I doubt Gaudreau would even have been drafted with Burke in management at the time.
Jay Feaster was NOT a rookie GM when this occurred. Not even close.

A top three pick pales in comparison to building a winning culture. Just look at the Oilers.

Sure it does but if you are going to be bad may as well get a reward for it unlike the Young Guns that were never quite bad enough to get top 5 picks and wallowed in mediocrity for almost a decade until Darryl Sutter stepped into the picture. A winning culture comes from winning. Right now the Flames have a head coach with a track record of mediocrity and a team that hasn't won for a couple of seasons. There's no magic switch here as winning is going to come in the form of a better roster and better coaching which are two things that can't be addressed until the offseason.

As many have stated, it ended so quickly, there was no opportunity to panic, and now it's already done.

I'd only panic if what you are thinking of panicking about is that long term, the team has invested heavy in the wrong core players, but for that I'd say it's a little early (except for the Gio contract, freak out about that doozy all one wants).

Panic is being 4 points from the 8th spot in the conference at the trade deadline and the team uncertain if it should be a buyer or a seller. Panic is falling out of a playoff spot in March. Panic is a playoff team having a long term injury to a star player late in the season.

There is no panic in Calgary. The Flames fate is close to being known very early in the season much like last year. The next time there should be any panic involving the Flames will be the day of the draft lottery in the event a team behind them in draft order doesn't see their name come up at it's card.

I think we have to realize, though, is that few of the older players will be gone in the next year or two, and that we do, in fact, have a fair number of prospects. Maybe as many as we've had since the 80's, I'd say.
(Even though they aren't playing like it, our better players are our younger players; unlike 4-5 years ago.)

Panic moves-like Darryl made in 2010 for the team to make the playoffs-are usually worth not doing.

Neither, you need to resign yourself to,the fact that the flames need to pick up about 84 points in the next 66 games - should be easy right?

The only thing I am panicky about is if there is pressure to make 'win now' trades to try and salvage the season. Other than that, there is no reason to panic.

Things to look forward to for the remainder of the season:

66 games to practice our PK and PP for next year when it might matter.
66 NHL games of experience to give our youngsters
Possibly play spoiler for the Oilers.
