Very few drafted players turn into NHL'ers let alone impact NHL'ers. You can look at any team's draft history and pick it apart with hindsight.

Exactly.
Any Flames' fan over the last few seasons who follow the draft should have realized by now that teams try and see which other teams are looking at certain prospects the Flames are interested in. The whole 'Gaudreau and Kucherov being on a different list' type of thing.
Also, FWIW (and IIRC), it was Webster that scouted Brodie and pushed for him, and the Flames did select him when they felt they couldn't wait any longer or risk losing him. Webster was very confident Brodie had a very good chance of turning into an NHL'er.
As for the list, only reason Myers should be ahead of Brodie is probably because he is still living off the 'Rookie of the year" hype.
