Wow. Trouba picked the wrong GM to hold out on. Chevy doesn't blink.

Yeah he is dealt before Christmas IMO.
Teams will jump on this due to the low cap hit for the next two years.
If you are close to the cap and want to make a push this contract makes Trouba very attractive.
This wasn't a contract discount because Trouba wants to stay in Winnipeg, it's because he wants to be attractive in a trade.

This contract looks very Jet-friendly on the surface, but I doubt Trouba is happy. And disgruntled players are never a good thing.
I would say that it pretty much guarantees a trade. And on that front, the bridge deal should help the Jets get a solid return, so they can be happy about that at least.

I don't know how the leafs aren't all over this. Maybe he just wants to play in the US and if that's the case, I'll bet he goes to the B's

Winnipeg wants a d-man in return though and Boston & Detroit don't really have one of those going on.
I'm kinda surprised that they could never figure out a Hamonic for Trouba deal.
Hamonic wanted to be closer to Winnipeg, Trouba likely wants to play in the U.S.

This deal is designed for the most possible suitors.
Trouba gets the most teams making offers and Chevy gets better offers due to the low Aav as it adds value.
There's going to be multiple teams making an offer.

Detroit has Joe Hickets and some decent forwards to add.
Boston has Joe Morrow and Brendan Carlo.
It may not be an impactful top 4 damn today that is required in the return especially with the young core that the Jets have.
Keep in mind, Trouba at $5m is worth atleast a 1st and/or a blue chipper.
On a 2 yr sweetheart deal he's worth much more.

so you figure that deal that Hamilton got is better?
2x3 followed by 28.5 over 4 is better?
Trouba next contract gonna be 7.125 x 4? That's what it has to be to be worse than Hamilton's.
Would Hamilton be looking at even 5.8 for his next contract coming up next year as an RFA?

Great deal. I knew Chevy wouldn't blink, his only redeeming quality so far is patience.
We likely see a trade in the next year or so, but who knows.

Um, no, but kudos on finding your "in" to talk about Hamilton.
You've got a talent I can't match.

The team that wins this trade will be the team acquiring trouba for the bargain basement price of 2.5 million in a win-now situation.
Tampa?

Love these GMs not surrendering to the players demands. If you're a fan of the game you should be happy with this move and what Yzerman did with Drouin.
Let them sit if the value of a trade isn't there. They'll come crawling back eventually when the cheque stops coming in every two weeks.

$6 million over 2 years is a bad deal? In what world?

I like it more when players take GMs to the cleaners on July 1st!

It's a best case scenario for an already bad situation. Let's see what the trade return is before passing judgement, but thus far, it makes Trouba trade able because it's a very reasonable bridge deal and didn't eat away any UFA years on a young RFA in two years with little negotiating rights

Hamonic had a very specific reason for wanting to be back in Manitoba. Once that reason went away, he said he wanted to stay with the Islanders, where he's quite happy.
